VGLZ 162008 INSTALL HEATERS – HANGAR 1427
RFI’S
1. The existing gas meter, regulator and supply line is undersized according to the gas requirements specified. Has the Gas utility been contacted and contracted to replace the existing service with a larger meter and regulator?
a. Yes, they have been contacted and a contract for them to upsize the meter and regulator is in the works. The supply line from the meter into the building will need to be upsized as well and will be the responsibility of the contractor for this solicitation. An addendum stating this will be issued shortly.
2. Are there any gas utility changes to be included in this proposal?
a. NO
3. Can flexible gas lines be installed?
a. Flexible connectors at the appliances are acceptable with in 24” of the units. All other piping shall be rigid and meet the requirements of the International Fuel Gas Code.
4. For purposes of determining percentage limitations on self-performed work, is this work considered
"general construction" or "construction by special trade contractors"?
a. It will be by special trades contractors
5. For the unit heaters, is the existing flue to be reused, replaced, or left as-is?
a. Reused per paragraph 1.g. of the SOW.
6. Does the new gas line have to be painted yellow?
a. New interior gas lines do not need to be painted. Any new exterior gas piping supplied by the contractor shall be painted to match building color.
7. Are existing thermostats to be used? Are set-back thermostats required?
a. New programmable thermostats are required for the furnaces. Manufacturer specified/recommended thermostats are required for the infrared and unit heaters.
8. What height are the new radiant heaters to be installed?
a. Bottom of unit heaters shall be between 48” and 60” above mezzanine deck.
9. Is there a safety interlock between the hangar doors and radiant heaters?
a. No.
