1.02 PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
A. Description of Project - KNMD189008, F-22 Composite Repair Facility. This Project includes major addition to Building 3408. As a general overview, the Work includes, but is not limited to, the following elements:
1. The intent of this project is to construct a single-bay addition to the existing two-bay F-22
Low Observable/Composite Repair Facility (LO/CRF), Building 3408 located at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The new addition consists of the following spaces:
New LO/CRF Hangar Bay (approximately 8,000 sq. ft.); LO/CRF Mechanical Platform;
Storage Room (approximately 1,360 sq. ft.); Shop Support Area (approximately 1,360 sq. ft.); Electrical Room (approximately 200 sq. ft.) and Fire Protection Room (approximately 400 sq. ft.).
2. In addition, a portion of the existing building will be reconfigured to provide access from the existing building to the new LO/CRF addition. Rooms 132 CR Cure and 135 Mechanical Room in the existing building will be modified as part of this project. These spaces will be reconfigured to provide a new 7 ft.-0 inch connector corridor to the new addition (Shop Support Area, Storage Room and LO Hangar Bay). In addition, all building systems for the new LO/CRF addition will be connected to the existing building.
Those system are, but not limited to, building DDC, security, fire alarm, fire protection systems, chilled water, breathing air, vacuum system, compressed air and electrical building systems.
3. LO/CRF Hangar Bay: This space is an environmentally controlled high bay aircraft corrosion control/paint bay to be used for composite aircraft skin maintenance, laminating, and painting. The bay is sized to completely enclose the F-22 fighter aircraft with 12 ft. clearance from aircraft wings, tail and nose to walls, Filter Bank and Plenum doors. The Plenum Doors located on East side of bay are approximately 38 ft.-0 inch wide by 28 ft.-0 inch high by 5 ft.-0 inch deep. These doors provide supply uniform air flow to LO/CRF bay and are constructed of steel framing with pre-finished metal wall panels at exterior and at interior side have perforated slotted metal diffuser panels to control proper air flow. At West side of LO/CRF bay is the return Filter Bank for return air from the uniform air flow. Interior walls at North and South side of LO/CRF bay are 1-hr. CMU painted East side (aircraft apron). The ceiling over the LO/CRF bay is a 1-hr.
painted gypsum board stepped suspended ceiling, approximately 16 ft.-6 inch height by 12 ft.-6 inch width over wings and 27 ft.-6 inch height by 43 ft.-10 inch width over fuselage. Fall protection system is located over wings and fuselage with fuselage fall protection extending to Filter Bank to assist in replacing filters. There is 10 ft.-0 inch by 12 ft.-0 inch insulated overhead door from LO/CRF bay to adjacent Shop Support Area.
