About this file
This document is a detailed technical specification for the Lower Granite Dam Turbine Intake Gate Hydraulic System Upgrade project (Solicitation Number W912EF25RA010). The project involves a comprehensive replacement and rehabilitation of the hydraulic systems for six intake gates at the Lower Granite Dam, including 19 hydraulic cylinders (18 for installation, 1 spare), a new hydraulic power unit (HPU), control stations, distribution headers, and associated electrical and mechanical components. The technical specifications provide extensive requirements for design, fabrication, testing, and installation, with critical design parameters including a system rated pressure of 3000 psi, normal operating pressure of 2000 psi, and specific performance criteria for gate movement and hydraulic fluid systems.
The specification covers multiple technical domains, including hydraulic cylinders, power units, control systems, piping, valves, electrical components, and instrumentation. Key requirements include precise dimensional tolerances, material specifications, corrosion resistance, shop and field testing protocols, and comprehensive documentation. The project is being executed by the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Walla Walla, with a focus on upgrading the existing hydraulic gate control infrastructure to improve reliability, performance, and maintainability of the intake gate systems. The technical requirements are extremely detailed, covering everything from material selection and manufacturing processes to installation, testing, and training requirements for the new hydraulic system.
