About this file

This file is a comprehensive technical specification for the Lower Granite Dam Turbine Intake Gate Hydraulic System Upgrade project, solicitation number W912EF25RA010, issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Walla Walla. The project involves a complete replacement of the existing hydraulic system for six main units, with each unit having three intake gates. The scope includes providing 19 new hydraulic cylinder assemblies (18 for installation and one spare), 19 new support beams, new hydraulic power units, control stations, distribution headers, flexible hoses, and associated electrical and control components.

The technical specifications detail extensive requirements for design, fabrication, testing, and installation of the hydraulic system. Key components include single-acting hydraulic cylinders with specific design parameters, a centralized hydraulic power unit with two power pumps and a pressurization unit, new control stations for each main unit, and comprehensive testing protocols. The project requires precise engineering, with specific requirements for materials, manufacturing, painting, shop testing, on-site installation, and operational testing. The work will be completed in phases: pre-main unit outage, main unit outage, and post-main unit outage, with careful sequencing to maintain dam operational capabilities throughout the upgrade process.
