About this file

This is an Environmental Sampling Report from ALS Environmental for analytical testing services performed on samples submitted on May 20, 2026, under Service Request No. K2605119 for Project No. 40-3458226. The report documents comprehensive per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) analysis conducted on eight samples consisting of sludge, solid, and groundwater matrices collected on May 12, 2026, and received at the laboratory on May 20, 2026. Analyses were performed according to NELAP-approved quality assurance protocols using Method 1633 by LC/MS/MS, with results reported as of June 12, 2026. The laboratory is NELAP-accredited in multiple states and holds certifications from regulatory bodies including Washington Department of Ecology (C544), California Water Resources Board, Florida Department of Health, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and others.

The analytical results indicate detected PFAS contamination in groundwater samples, with Perfluorooctane Sulfonic Acid (PFOS) ranging from 1.0 to 15 ng/L across samples, and Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) detected at 3.3 to 17 ng/L. Sludge and solid samples contained higher concentrations, with PFOS at 0.59 to 5.9 ng/g and PFOA at 0.046 to 0.46 ng/g on a dry weight basis. Several carboxylic acids and sulfonic acids were detected below quantitation limits (marked as "J" for estimated values). Suspended solids testing of groundwater samples showed results ranging from 100 to 120 mg/L. All quality control measures, including surrogate recovery percentages, method blanks, and lab control samples, met or fell within acceptable control limits as specified in the NELAP standards. Manual integration of chromatographic peaks was performed consistent with established protocols; one calibration verification exceeded upper control criteria but did not affect field sample data quality.

CASE NARRATIVE

All analyses were performed consistent with the quality assurance program of ALS Environmental. This report contains analytical results for samples for the Tier level II requested by the client.

Sample Receipt:

Eight sludge, solid, ground water samples were received for analysis at ALS Environmental on 05/20/2026. Any discrepancies upon initial sample inspection are annotated on the sample receipt and preservation form included within this report. The samples were stored at minimum in accordance with the analytical method requirements.

General Chemistry:

No significant anomalies were noted with this analysis.

Organic LC:

Method 1633final, 06/10/2026:The upper control criterion was exceeded for 11-Chloroeicosafluoro-3-oxaundecane-1-sulfonic acid (11-Cl-PF3OUdS) in Continuing Calibration Verification (CCV) KQ2609462-09. The field samples analyzed in this sequence did not contain the analyte in question. Since the apparent problem indicated a potential high bias, the data quality was not affected. No further corrective action was required.

Method 1633final, 06/10/2026:Manual integration of one or more chromatographic peaks in several samples was required to correct the integration performed by the automated data processing program. The manual integration was performed in accordance with ALS policy, which is consistent with the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP), Department of Defense (DOD), and other certifying agencies. Refer to the raw data for the compounds impacted by the manual integration.
