About this file
This file is a Final Report (Part 1) related to a maintenance dredging solicitation for the Arthur Kill 35' Reach in the New York and New Jersey Channels Federal Navigation Project. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is seeking a contractor to remove approximately 150,000 cubic yards of selected critical shoals from the Arthur Kill 35' Reach to maintain a depth of -35 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) plus 1 foot allowable overdepth. The dredged material, expected to consist primarily of silt with some sand and clay, must be processed and transported to a contractor-furnished, State-permitted upland placement site. All dredged material must meet federal, state, and approved local criteria, with the contractor responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and approvals for transportation, transfer, dewatering, processing, and final placement. The contractor must commence work within five calendar days of receiving the notice to proceed and maintain a minimum integrated production rate of at least 2,500 cubic yards per calendar day. The solicitation requires the use of a mechanical dredge with an environmental clamshell bucket due to State Water Quality Certificate restrictions, along with multiple barges and tugboats for dredging, dewatering, and unloading operations. The apparent low bidder must provide copies of all required permits and approvals within 35 calendar days of notification.
