About this file
This is a Final Report documenting the completion of maintenance dredging operations for the Arthur Kill 35-Foot Reach, a Federal Navigation Project in New York and New Jersey channels. The project, solicited under contract number W912DS26BA013 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New York District, involved the removal of approximately 150,000 cubic yards of material from critical shoals to maintain a navigation depth of -35 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) plus 1 foot allowable overdepth. The dredged material, consisting primarily of silt with some sand and clay, was processed and transported to contractor-furnished, State-permitted upland placement sites.
The project required mechanical dredging using an environmental clamshell bucket due to State Water Quality Certificate restrictions, along with multiple barges and tugboats for dredging, dewatering, and unloading operations. The selected contractor was obligated to obtain all necessary federal, state, and local permits for dredged material transportation, transfer, dewatering, processing, and placement within 35 calendar days of notification as apparent low bidder. Work was required to commence within five calendar days of receiving the notice to proceed, with a mandatory integrated production rate of at least 2,500 cubic yards per calendar day. This final report documents the successful completion of these maintenance dredging activities and associated material placement operations.
