About this file
This is a product manual for the HUNDESTED Marine Gear CPG 120 (serial no. G1177-78), specifically detailing installation procedures and requirements.
The manual outlines critical installation preparation steps including pre-installation damage inspection, verification of engine flange and rotation direction, and confirmation that the gear arrives fully function-tested with adjusted hydraulic systems and new filter inserts. The document emphasizes that no external hydraulic connections are necessary, though external cooling water connections are referenced in drawing no. 4-155-020720. The gearbox inclination must not exceed 8° aft, and the foundation must be rigid to withstand thrust forces, torque reactions, and hull loads. Vertical adjustment is accomplished through foundation bolts, while transversal and longitudinal adjustments utilize screws in provisionally welded threaded pieces. The manual stresses that final alignment cannot be completed until vessel launch due to hull deflection, with thermal expansion of the gearbox requiring consideration during output flange and input shaft alignment. Once properly positioned, the gearbox feet are secured with steel shocks or Chockfast material. Supporting technical drawings are referenced throughout (4-048-021095, 4-048-020722), and alignment calculations per GAP-SAK standards and propeller unit manuals are required for proper installation completion.

HUNDESTED manual Marine Gear CPG 120 serial no. G1177-78
INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION PREPERATIONS
Before the gear is lowered into the engine room, check that the gear has not been damaged during shipping, etc.
Check that the engine flange and direction of rotation are correct.
CPG 120 is delivered fully function tested from the factory, and with the hydraulic system adjusted to the desired number of revolutions and operating temperature.
CPG 120 is delivered with new filter inserts.
The total weight of the gear is stamped on the rating plate.
No external hydraulic connections are necessary.
For external connection of cooling water see drawing no. 4-155-020720.
ALIGNMENT:
VERY IMPORTANT! The final check of the alignment can not be done until the ship is launched due to deflection of the hull.
When aligning the propeller shaft please see the GAP-SAK alignment calculations for details.
The inclination of the gear must not exceed max. 8° aft. The foundation must be rigid in order to avoid harmful deformation of the gear, taking into consideration thrust forces, torque reactions from the gear and loads on the ship hull. All major welding must be finished before alignment.
Place the gearbox on the prepared foundation in the hull. Make a rough alignment of the gearbox and then the engine. The gearbox can be adjusted vertically by means of bolts in the foundation feet on the gearbox. The transversal and longitudinal adjustment can be done with screws sitting in threaded pieces being provisionally welded to the foundation in the hull. See drawing no. 4-048-021095.
The final alignment of the gear has to be done when the vessel is launched. For the final alignment see the manual of the propeller unit.
The thermal expansion of the gearbox has to be taken into consideration when lining up the output flange/propeller flange and the engine/gearbox input shaft (see drawing no. 4-048- 020722). When the gear has been put in the correct position, the feet are provided with steel shocks, Chockfast or similar.
