EXHIBIT J – BOUNDARY MARKING
GENERAL
This exhibit includes additional information for boundary services.
An overall map of the project is located in Exhibit K.
LOCATION OF WORK
All project fee lands may be areas serviced under this section. Travel distances of approximately 20 miles between work areas may be required. Some locations are remote and may be steep, rocky, and uneven terrain. Poison ivy abounds. Four-wheel drive vehicles may be required in some areas. While most boundary work is located near limited development areas around the lake, approximately one-third of areas ordered will be in such remote locations. Occasionally, while en route to the work location, the Contractor will be required to remove trees from remote access roads, which may require a chain saw. Specific work locations will be noted on task orders and maps.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED
The Contractor will replace Government boundary signs that are missing, broken, or unserviceable on I-beams. Packing in boundary supplies and necessary tools on foot is usually required when walking the boundary line. Everything packed into an area will be taken back out at the end of the day, including old I-beams, signs, etc., that were replaced. All items will be disposed of properly.
Any issues or concerns about the boundary such as possible encroachments and trespasses will be reported to the COR.
CONTRACTOR-FURNISHED MATERIALS
The Contractor will furnish all necessary tools and equipment, including a boundary paint
– preapproved by the COR – of good quality.
GOVERNMENT-FURNISHED MATERIALS
The Government will furnish boundary signs and I-beams.
SCHEDULE
Boundary work may be ordered at any time, but is generally scheduled mid to late fall after the leaves are off the trees. For safety, it is highly recommended that blaze orange vests and hats be worn during the hunting seasons.
In the past, approximately 20,000 to 40,000 linear feet of boundary work is ordered each year.
