1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONS
1.8.1 Environmental Requirements
Surface and ambient temperatures should be 40 degrees F. and rising and below 100 degrees F. during application and drying period.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 MATERIALS
A. Spray Wrap: Ready-mixed, flexible, acrylic coating to be applied to sheathing or CMU backup.
a. Total Solids: 74 percent per ASTM D 2369.
b. VOC CONTENT: <100 g/L. Complies with all known national, state and district AIM VOC regulations.
c. FLASH POINT: >200° F (> 93° C)
d. FREEZE POINT: 32° F (0° C)
B. Tape: Self-adhering, glass fiber, fabric tape for use fill to reinforce rough openings, inside and outside corners and sheathing joints.
a. Size: 4.25-in or 9.5-in wide self-adhesive, flexible, symmetrical, interlaced glass fiber fabric, with alkaline resistant coating.
C. Joint Fabric: Non-woven reinforcement fabric for use on sheathing joints, inside or outside corners and rough openings.
Size: 4.00-in or 6.00-in wide
D. Transition Membrane: Self-adhering water-resistive air barrier material works as a secondary seal for sealant joints or as an air barrier connection material which bridges dissimilar materials.
Size: 6 or 9 inch.
E. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Air Leakage of Air Barrier Assemblies: Less than 0.04 dfm/ft2@1.57 psf per ASTM E 2357.
2. Surface Burning Characteristics per ASTM E 84.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.2 PREPARATION
Surfaces should be clean, dry and in good repair before application.
Prepare surfaces according to manufacturer's written instructions.
Protect people, vehicles, property, plants and all surfaces not designated to receive treatment from the product splash and wind drift.
Test a small area of each surface to confirm suitability and desired results before starting overall application.
Prime according to manufacturer's instructions, if recommended.
3.4 INSTALLATION
1. Liberally apply Spray Wrap by spray or roller to all vertical and horizontal sheathing joints.
2. Embed Joint Fabric in the wet Spray Wrap.
3. Apply Spray Wrap over the Joint Fabric. Spot over-driven fasteners and surface defects with Fill or paintable caulk. Let dry.
4. Spray or roller apply Spray Wrap to the entire surface - including areas covered by Joint Fabric and Spray Wrap - to a uniform wet mil thickness of 10 mils. Let dry. This is just enough for the wet film to hide the black ink on the sheathing, which will show slightly after drying.
3.7 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Dried material must be removed mechanically.
