About this file
This is a Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) Area of Interest announcement for advanced tooling manufacturing for radial forging capabilities.
The U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Command-Watervliet Arsenal (TACOM), through Army Contracting Command-Watervliet Arsenal (ACC-WVA), is seeking state-of-the-art and innovative equipment solutions for advanced radial forging operations. The tool package must be compatible with existing radial forge equipment as an enhancement to current processes. Desired capabilities include achieving higher forge reduction ratios and producing straighter parts that enable more consistent post-forge processing and improved part fatigue life. Solutions should account for pre-form variables, process variables, and machine and tooling variables, with consideration for increased ductility, product robustness, and extended barrel lifetime in field applications. Responses must be submitted via email to usarmy.watervliet.tacom.mbx.commercial-solutions-opening@army.mil with the subject line "Advanced Tooling Manufacturing for Radial Forging" by 20 November 2026. Selection will be based on existing needs, technical qualification, and price reasonableness. Selected companies must be registered in the System for Award Management (www.sam.gov). This announcement does not obligate the Government to make an award, which is subject to fund availability and successful negotiations. Detailed submission procedures are referenced in the parent CSO W911PT26CS001 available at www.sam.gov. Questions should be directed to usarmy.watervliet.tacom.mbx.commercial-solutions-opening@army.mil or Contracting Officer Lauren Scripps at lauren.a.scripps.civ@army.mil.

1.3 Advanced Tooling Manufacturing for Radial Forging
WVA is requesting state of the art and innovative equipment for the following exam-ples of capabilities:
-Advanced Radial Forging to achieve a higher forge reduction ratio, as well as straighter parts which allows for more consistent post-forge processing and im-proved part fatigue life.
-Solutions should take into consideration pre-form variables, process variables, and machine and tooling variables.
-The solutions should also take into consideration any gains in the increase of ductil-ity of the forgings, along with product robustness and a longer barrel lifetime in the field.
2. AoI Constraints
a. Any selected company/companies will be required to be registered in the System for Award http://www.sam.gov/
Management (www.sam.gov).
b. Solutions will be selected based on the existing needs, best qualification after technical re-view and price reasonableness.
