W9115124B0001 Renovate BLDG 37011
Government Response 05/16/2024
1. The Asbestos survey was done in 1997. Is there another that is more current?
It doesn’t look to be accurate.
ANS: The building was renovated in 2011; the 12 x 12 floor was replaced, stair treads on the stage steps were demolished, all water lines and sanitary lines were replaced. Assume the following ACM: cementitious siding; perimeter soffit (1-G), Building caulking and putties; at doors, windows (not to include new windows installed in 2011) and gutter connections (1-H), and roof penetrations mastics (R-B).
2. At the site visit there looked like there might be foundation difference. Is there a crawl space?
ANS: There is no crawl space hatch or breather vents on the outside, assume there is no crawl space.
3. C-102, key note #7 states to remove all paint from railing and paint “black”.
Does this mean that it needs to be removed to bare metal or remove loose paint?
ANS: Remove to bare metal.
4. Is there a lead survey for the building?
ANS: See Technical Exhibit E.
5. A-201 Key note #6 states to see structural drawings for fixed ladder but it is not available. Also the key note on the drawings is pointing at an exterior light.
ANS: See revised drawings.
6. A-201 Key note #7 asks for aluminum sign holders on the south elevation of the building but there are no dimensions.
ANS: See revised drawings.
7. A-401 CN-1 states that cabinets should be “horewood” ? Is this a typo or a type of material?
ANS: this is a typo, it is supposed to be “hardwood”.
8. 1. Reference Sheet A - 501, Partition System B3 indicates an insulation thickness of 2.5” (R16). However, exterior walls cross section details indicate R19. Typically, R19 in closed cell spray foam has a thickness of 2.9”-3.0”. This appears to be a conflict in requirements. Please provide clarification of spray foam insulation R values or thicknesses required in all exterior walls. Note:
2024 IBC recommends R19 in exterior facing walls.
ANS: Walls indicated as B3 shall have 2.5” insulation, the rest of the exterior walls shall be R19.
9. Reference Sheet A - 101, Proposed Floor Plan reflects a Partition wall section F6, however, there doesn’t appear to be wall cross section detail provided in the drawings. Please clarify what spray foam insulation R value or thickness required in the partition wall section labeled F6.
ANS: See revised drawings.
10. Will a intumescent coating applied over Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) be required ANS: Only where specifications, codes and regulations require.

ANS: See revised drawings, just solid surface sills no trim and seal underneath.
15. On wall hung bathroom countertops can laminated end braces be used for support on open finished ends where needed?
