About this file
This Record of Environmental Consideration (REC) documents the scope of work for a construction project to flush sprinkler systems in Building 212 at Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois. The project will investigate and flush up to 11 sprinkler systems and 1 cross tie system for possible obstructions over approximately 120 days. Routine repair and maintenance of facilities is categorically excluded from further environmental review. Contractors will be responsible for proper disposal of any solid or hazardous waste generated by the project. Asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, and non-stormwater discharges from flushing will not impact the work. The REC was approved in December 2019 by the installation's cultural resource manager, chief of environmental division, and NEPA program manager.
