RFI #27

A. Para 2.1 System Description – “The new system shall report to PANG in Portland via the building’s telephone system.”

B. Para 2.1.1 Operation

a. Para 2.1.1.b – “Individual identity of each addressable device for the following conditions;

alarm; trouble; open; short; and appliances missing/failed remote detector-sensitivity adjustment from the panel for smoke detectors.”

C. Para 2.1.3 Alarm Functions

a. Para 2.1.3.a – “Transmission of a signal over the station telephonic fire reporting system. The signal shall be common for any device.”

D. Para 2.11 Transmitters

a. Para 2.11.1 – “Digital data transmission shall include the following:”

i. “Address of the alarm-initiating device.”

ii. “Address and/or Zone of the Supervisory signal.”

iii. “Address and/or Zone of the trouble-initiating device.”

The sole sourced/specified control panel for this project is Monaco model #227-856-EN and requires connection to Monaco model #D-21 Emergency Management System, which does not exist at Camp Rilea. Existing system within Building #7116 communicates to PANG via “voice-dialer” connections. Transmission of each addressable condition will require the addition of Monaco Ethernet Kit # 227-317-N1 at the existing D-21 located at PANG-Portland and a means of connectivity between the two sites. Please advise a course of action.

Response Due to the fact that Monaco no longer provides the voice-dialer function internal to the fire alarm panel, a third party closed-contact DACT (with power supply) would be required. The Monaco panel should be provided with a six-relay output to interface with the third party DACT. The relays would be programmed as a general building alarm, trouble, supervisory with three spares.

The Monaco panel would have to be set up as “no radio transmit” mode. This third party DACT would call out to PANG-Portland.

Drawing Sheets A-101A and A-401 both denote North as being the left side of the drawing. In addition, Drawings Sheet A-422, Detail 4, shows the Men’s Room Shower Area locker on the

South wall. Are the lockers in elevation on the North wall or the South wall?

The detail elevations on Sheet A-422 were incorrectly labeled. Detail 2 should read as North and Detail 4 should read as South.

RFI #32

Drawing Sheet A-422, details 18 and 17, show single-tier lockers, all which are noted as 12” wide. However, the lockers on A-401, look to be 15” x 15”, please confirm the correct size.

Also, should there be an Elevation Detail 20 on Sheet A-422?

Response All single and double height lockers shall be 72” in height, with the exception of the Women’s Locker Room which are 48” high. RFI #33

In reference to the seismic bracing and steel, Drawings Sheet S141A, Keynote 3.401, it indicates to provide back-to-back 600S200-43 joists w/bearing stiffeners. However, 3/S531 does not indicated back-to-back joists for the same location. Please confirm the requirements.

Response 3/S-531 occurs between every existing and new joist at the new shear wall indicated on the plan. The back to back joists that occur at 2 discrete locations will also need to have shear transfer to the shear wall as per detail 3/S-531. The bearing of the member is not indicated on this detail, the detail is to show shear transfer between the joists from the mezzanine to the shear wall below. The existing light gage joist indicated in the detail would be the new double joist, connection of the blocking to the new joist would remain the same.

RFI #34

Per Drawing Sheet S151A and Detail 1/S541, it mentions existing angel, if not continuous, to assume angel (6x4x5/16 LLV) splices to be made per detail 3/S541. What is the spacing to be assumed and are these new splices to be installed or are they existing?

Per as-built drawings this angle is continuous. We were unable to verify if this angle was one piece or if there were splices. Detail 3/S-541 is for use if there is no connection between angles at any existing splice locations. For bidding purposes assume 1 splice location each side of building.

RFI #35

Per Drawings Sheet S151A and Detail 8/S541, is this detail for all joists along this gridline/wall or just for the one (1) location as shown; brace for masonry wall?

Response This brace is at the one location for the new masonry wall being installed (please reference structural wall plan for extents of new masonry). All existing masonry walls along this line have braces already installed.
