Text version

Is there a plan set for this project?

Yes, see attached What is the existing material in the joints?

Rubber joint sealant.

What sealant material is being specified for this project?

Cold applied jet-fuel resistant FS SS-S-200 Type M or H and COE CRD-C 525. Follow UFGS 32 01 19.

What is the existing width of the concrete joints?

3 of the lines are 1.25 inch and the rest are approximately ¾ inch.

What is the completion date for the project?

150 After Notice to Proceed. Companies can propose alternative dates using the exception clause, but this might disqualify one’s proposal if it does not meet the government mission.

Does the engineer have a recommendation or preference for the two part Type H or Type M cold mix/applied product manufacturer?

No.

The spec UFGS 32 01 19 does not appear to reference silicone but the revised SOW does. Do we follow the 32 01 19 spec (issued with the SOW) for a 2 part polyurethane or is a single part silicone product acceptable?

Follow the UFGS 32 01 19 spec.

Are bidders encouraged to present value engineering or alternate product installation pricing?

Yes.

Our supplier is telling me that the two part sealants are no longer available and that the two part material is obsolete. We have been using 1 part silicone which is both jet blast and fuel resistant. I have attached the material literature from multiple manufactures of the one part silicone. Please note they meet the same standards as the old two part material. Please note the FAA specifies one part silicone under their P-605 Joint sealing specification.

If the one part sealant is jet-fuel resistant and meets the requirements of UFGS 32 01 19, than it is an acceptable alternative to the two part sealant.
