About this file

This document contains responses to a request for information regarding a federal contract opportunity to repair a fuel cell at Building 1203. The responses provide details on acceptable specifications for air compressors to be used on the project, including confirmation that a 120 gallon air tank and 7.5HP duplex scroll medical air compressors operated as a single unit would meet requirements, as would a 20HP rotary compressor with any additional power connections to be coordinated by the general contractor. The related federal contract opportunity is for the repair of the F-35 fuel cell at Building 1203 issued by the Department of the Army Alabama Army National Guard. Interested parties must submit an EAL form 48 hours prior to attending the pre-bid conference on April 26th, 2022 or the bid opening on May 24th, 2022 at 5187 Selma Highway in Montgomery, Alabama.

Subject: RESPONSES TO RFI #002

Project: F-35 – REPAIR FUEL CELL, BUILDING 1203

Job #: ANG# FAKZ182351 / SSL# 18073

From: Jacob Johnson

1) Question: The Air Compressor schedule on sheet P0.1 indicates a 125-gallon tank;

however, our air compressor rep for Ingersoll Rand indicated that they only make a

120 gallon tank. Please advise if 120 gallon is acceptable.

Response: A receiver of 120 gallons is acceptable.

2) Question: The breathing air spec appears to call for an oil free rotary screw breathing air compressor and the schedule calls for 2 qty 7.5 HP units. We are not aware of any supplier that offers this technology in a compressor less than 20HP. Would it be acceptable to quote 2 qty. 7.5HP oil-less scroll compressors that produce breathing grade air?

Response: The basis of design breathing air compressor is a 7.5HP duplex stack mounted scroll medical air plant. Two independent 7.5 HP breathing air scroll compressors will be acceptable but will need to operate and controlled as a single unit. A 20HP rotary compressor will also be acceptable. General Contractor will be responsible for coordinating and providing any additional power connections required for larger compressor.
