About this file

This document is an Addendum to the Final Hydraulics Report for the TX FLAP FM 709(1) project, which provides access to the Navarro Mills Lake. The addendum updates the recommendation for the culvert at station 176+30, stating that the existing 24-inch RCP culvert should be retained and extended to accommodate the proposed roadway geometry, rather than being replaced as originally recommended. The addendum provides specifics on the proposed culvert modifications, including replacing the inlet and outlet sections, extending the length on both sides, and installing a flared end section (FES) with Class 3 riprap outlet protection.

The related federal contract opportunity is for the TX FLAP FM 709(1) - Access to Navarro Mills Lake project, which involves 3R (Resurfacing, Restoration, and Rehabilitation) of 3.8 miles of FM 709. The proposed improvements include full-depth reclamation, shoulder widening, asphalt concrete pavement, guardrail installation, culvert extensions/replacements, and safety enhancements. The estimated cost range is $5,000,000 to $10,000,000, with an anticipated advertisement in September 2024, award in Fall 2024, and construction from November 2024 to August 2025.

To: Solomon Haile, Project Manager, CFLHD

From: Luis Calderón, PE, CFM, Hydraulics Team Lead, CFLHD Signature: ________________________

This Addendum is intended to supersede the recommendations shown in the Final Hydraulics Report (dated 12 September 2022) for the culvert at station 176+30. During the project check-in review it was noted that the existing culvert is a 24-inch diameter RCP. The recommendation is to retain this culvert and extend it to accommodate the proposed roadway geometry as shown in the plans.
