About this file

This is Addendum 3 to the Request for Proposal for structured cabling installation at Louisa County Public Schools' new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Building in Mineral, Virginia. The addendum provides clarifications on key project specifications and installation requirements. Contractors are prohibited from billing for stored materials; all materials must be on-site. The project specifies Category 6+ cabling throughout (not Cat6A as initially indicated for teacher stations), with cable colors designated by application type. The distance between the High School Main Distribution Frame (MDF) and the CTE Building MDF is approximately 1,500 feet based on Google Earth estimates. Contractors must install single-mode 4-strand armored fiber optic cables to all proposed pathways and to EV charging stations as indicated in the electrical drawings. Classroom cabinets labeled "2D ACS" refer to above-counter-height boxes and do not require yellow access control cabling. Additionally, contractors should plan for five additional data drops beyond those listed on drawings to accommodate future connections to mechanical equipment.

The addendum clarifies that gray Category 6+ cabling for the intercom system should be pulled and left in the ceiling above the teaching wall for the intercom amplifier only; each space identified with the specified symbol on the drawings will receive an intercom amp, but contractors are not responsible for speaker installation or AIPhone connections, which are listed as "by others." These clarifications address ambiguities from the original RFP drawings and specifications, ensuring all bidders have consistent understanding of scope requirements and installation standards for the structured cabling project.

Louisa County Public Schools RFPFY2026-1 Structured Cabling System - CTE Building Addendum 3

1. Stored Materials Billing Will contractors be permitted to bill for stored materials on this project? If so, please confirm any requirements or documentation needed.

Answer: No, materials need to be on site.

2. Teacher Station Data Outlets Teacher station data outlets are indicated as Cat6A, whereas the remainder of the project appears to be Cat6+.

○ Please confirm if this is correct.

○ If so, should the cable color remain blue, or is a different color required?

Answer: Please use the specified Cat6+ cable.

3. MDF to MDF Distance Please provide the approximate distance between the High School MDF and the CTE Building MDF, as this is not depicted on Drawing E-601.

Answer: Based on footage taken using google earth, I would estimate 1500’. See image below. (This is a very rough estimate.)

4. Future Conduit – Communications Scope (E-601 Notes 6 & 17) The electrical site drawings indicate installation of conduit for future fiber and communications, but the type of communications is not defined in the drawings or RFP. Please clarify the intended scope for:

○ Fiber to existing poles (Notes 6 and 17)

○ Communications to EV charging stations

Answer: This was discussed during the walkthrough. You are asked to install single-mode 4-strand count armored fiber to each proposed pathway.

5. Classroom Cabinets (2D “ACS”) Classroom cabinets labeled 2D “ACS”—should these be interpreted as Access Control Systems (Door Access Control) as referenced in the RFP documents?

○ If so, should these be installed using yellow cabling per access control standards?

Answer: No. This simply means the boxes are above counter height.

6. Are there any drops that may not be listed on the plans?

Answer: Yes, Build into your plan 5 additional drops that may be used to connect to mechanical equipment.

7. Referring to the RFP and drawings, the intercom system calls for gray Cat6+ cabling.

○ However, Drawing E-001 indicates certain components as “by others,” which makes it unclear how far this requirement extends. Specifically, should each individual speaker receive a dedicated gray Cat6+ cable, or does this requirement apply only to the AIPHONE system and intercom call stations?

○ Please clarify the intended scope.

Answer: The gray cat6+ will be pulled and left in the ceiling above the teaching wall for the intercom amp. To get your count for this, use the following symbol . Each space with that symbol will get an intercom amp. You will not do anything with the speakers or the AIPhone.
