About this file

This is Addendum 2 to a Request for Proposal issued by Louisa County Public Schools (Virginia) for structured cabling installation in a new Career and Technical Education Building. The addendum clarifies scope requirements through responses to seven bidder inquiries regarding cabling specifications and installation responsibilities. Key clarifications include that door access control cabling is excluded from scope as that vendor handles it separately; intercom speaker cabling is the responsibility of the intercom vendor, but bidders must price Category 6 drops for intercom amplifiers in each learning space; HDMI cables behind television locations are excluded as the site owner will provide them; vape sensors should terminate with RJ45 mod plugs; patch cords are excluded from bidder pricing; and the electrician is responsible for all base scope conduit and cable tray, while bidders are responsible for ladder/waterfall installations inside the main distribution frame (MDF) and intermediate distribution frames (IDF) and must secure and bond four-post racks provided by the customer.

While BICSI-trained personnel are required for installation, certification by an Ortronics installer is not mandatory but will receive additional evaluation points as part of the scoring matrix. The base warranty for all work is five years, with potential extension to the Ortronics warranty if installation meets Ortronics certification standards. These clarifications establish the precise boundaries between the bidder's responsibilities and those of other vendors and the site owner, ensuring accurate pricing and elimination of scope ambiguities for proposal submission.

Louisa County Public Schools RFPFY2026-1 Structured Cabling System - CTE Building Addendum 2

1. Please provide what specific locations are to be run with data cabling for Door Access Control.

Are these the master/slave Aiphone locations by chance?

Answer:

Zero. Door access control is handled by another vendor and does not require cat6. If for some reason, that changes, we will will create a change order and use the additional cost provided for additional drops.

2. For Intercom cables, are we to price CAT6 homerun cables from every intercom speaker to the nearest telecom closet? I see both intercom and sound system speaker (subscript “S”) locations so please clarify between the two.

Answer:

No, the intercom vendor will be responsible for all speaker cabling. However, it does not appear there is a symbol for the intercom amp that will be placed in each learning space. You need to include in your cost a cat6 drop for each space you see the following symbol.

3. Are we to price the HDMI cables behind the TV locations? If so, where are they to be terminated and is there a material specification?

Answer:

No, the site owner will provide the hdmi cables.

4. How are the Vape Sensors terminated at the station side? RJ45 mod plug, surface box or faceplate?

Answer: RJ45 would be the preferred termination.

5. Please confirm patch cords are NOT to be priced.

Answer: Patch Cords are not to be priced. The site owner will provide the patch cords.

6. Please confirm all conduits for base scope of work is by the electrician.

Answer:

Correct, all base scope conduit and cable tray is provided by the electrician. You will be responsible for the ladder / waterfall inside the MDF / IDF. The customer will only provide the 4 post racks that you will secure to floor and ensure is coprreclty bonded.

7. Please confirm this project does NOT require the installation to be performed by a certified Ortronics installer for additional manufacturer lifetime warranties rather only BICSI trained personnel.

Answer:

While it is not required to have certified Ortonics installer for this product. Vendors who can meet the requirement for COI will be given additional points as part of the matrix. The base warranty for this project is 5 years. If the work meets the Ortronics installation the warranty can be extended the Ortronics warranty. That has value to the site owner.
