Question & Answers
Please find our answers below. Let me know if you have any questions.
1. Plans Page 1 of 21 General Notes. "Field Verify the exact extent of the work prior to bidding"
- Each plans page has details of what work needs completed on each building. Are we to assume that the work shown on these pages is the extent of the work? Contractor does not have the authority, nor are we able to predict, what the Government deams as needing repaired.
- Yes, the work on these pages are the extent of work.
2. Plans Pages 11 - 19 General Notes (Corroded Hinges) - Is contractor to include replacing all hinges for walkthrough doors? Contractor does not have the authority, nor are we able to predict, what the Government deams as a corroded hinge.
- No, no need to replace the corroded hinges at all.
3. Plan Pages 11 - 19 Paint Construction Notes ( Note #7) This note states "Paint maintenance to exterior and interior brick walls" , is contractor to include painting of all interior brick walls and concrete structures throughout each building?
- Yes.
4. Plan Pages 11-19 Paint Construction Notes (Note #7) This note states "Paint maintenance to exterior and interior brick walls" , is contractor to include painting of red brick exterior walls. The notes shown on the elevation drawings are contradicting of this note #7.
- Yes.
5. Plan Page 11-19 Elevation Drawings - Does the term typical for each note indicate contractor is to include painting of all concrete step walls, dock walls, concrete beams, concrete columns, ramp walls, & CMU blocks?
- Yes.
6. Page 11-19 Paint Construction Note #6 This note states " Overhead and Walkthrough doors are to be painted", is painting of the frames for the overhead and walkthrough doors to be included?
- Yes.

Please clarify for bidding purposes which existing areas have lead paint that will need removed.
The specifications requires a lead remediation plan and removal of existing lead paint.
- If there is a lead paint then it needs to be removed. We are not aware of specific areas that has lead paint.
8. Plans Page 21 of 21- MPI Painting Manual Part 1 - General Paragraph 6 - Is the contractor to include an independent Paint Inspection Agency (inspector) for this project?
- Yes.
9. Plans Page 21 of 21- MPI Painting Manual Part 1 - General Mechanical / Electrical Equipment and Related Surfaces. Paragraph 1. - Is painting of mechanical and electrical equipment required?
- No.
10. Plans Page 21 of 21- MPI Painting Manual Part 1 - General Mechanical / Electrical Equipment and Related Surfaces. Paragraph 1. - Is painting of the inside of the duct work behind the louvers required?
- No.
11. If sizes and quantity are in Drawings where? Schedule I will address actual schedule.
We need the engineer to give us a window schedule so our window sub can bid. They need the sizes and quantity. The drawings say nothing about windows and are not called out anywhere.
The solicitation, Section 01 11 00, Summary of Work reads "Replace old industrial windows for the restrooms by brick fill w/ new small windows" Section 08 51 13 says nothing in regards to the sizes of the windows.
- We are not going to Replace old industrial windows for the restrooms by brick fill w/ new small windows. It’s not on the design. Deleting it form section 01 11 00.
