About this file
This Addendum 1 document, dated December 22, 2025, provides civil engineering plans and demolition specifications for Stokes County, North Carolina's new animal shelter project located at 1075 Dodgetown Road, Walnut Cove, NC 27052. The project encompasses the renovation of approximately 3,860 square feet of existing structure and construction of a new 3,442 square-foot building addition with 800 square feet of outside kennels on a 9.6-acre parcel zoned R-A. The addendum includes both existing conditions and demolition plans prepared by Neal Civil Engineering, PLLC, detailing the removal of existing structures, pavement, concrete, pillars, stairs, fencing, a radio tower, and other site elements. Key project spaces include administrative offices, entry areas, dog and cat kennels, delivery and service areas, animal intake zones, laundry facilities, food preparation areas, and cold storage. The mandatory pre-bid site visit was scheduled for December 17, 2025, with sealed bids due January 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Stokes County Governmental Center.
The demolition and site preparation work outlined in this addendum requires contractors to obtain all necessary permits prior to commencing work and to verify utility locations through dial 811 before beginning operations. The contractor assumes responsibility for any damage to existing utilities that are to remain and must repair damaged utilities immediately at no additional cost to the owner. All construction materials and debris become property of the general contractor for disposal unless otherwise specified by Stokes County. Contractors must coordinate the sequence of demolition activities with county representatives, terminate existing water and sewer services not to be reused at the main, and remove trees, roots, grass, stumps, and debris within designated disturbance limits. Pavement repair related to utility construction is subject to Stokes County approval and may be subject to change.
