About this file
This is an administrative policy document from a Massachusetts law enforcement agency outlining staff parking regulations for Department facilities and personnel. The policy, designated S227 and effective March 2016, governs the use of parking areas at the agency's headquarters (HOC) and jail facility, establishing procedures for authorized vehicle parking, parking permit issuance, and enforcement mechanisms. The policy applies to Department employees and authorized visitors and outlines designated parking lots (A, B, C, and D at HOC; upper lot and ramp at jail), street parking on Bradston and Atkinson streets, and interior perimeter parking subject to vehicle searches. Parking privileges are discretionary and may be revoked at any time, with violating vehicles subject to ticketing and towing at owner expense.
Parking authorization is managed through a color-coded sticker and placard system administered by the ADS/SS, with burgundy stickers for Lots A and C, blue stickers for Lot B, and non-transferable placards for street parking. Employees must provide vehicle information prior to sticker issuance and are responsible for obtaining replacements if stickers are lost or vehicles change. Limited temporary parking privileges may be authorized by the Superintendent or designee for special circumstances, requiring daily notification to the Lobby Reception desk or Central Control. Enforcement is assigned to uniformed staff at HOC, monitoring lots A through D daily, while jail parking is monitored by back gate sally port officers. Street parking enforcement is conducted by City of Boston Parking Enforcement. All vehicles parked on Department property must remain locked at all times.
