About this file
This is a Personnel Policy document issued by the Sheriff's Department establishing guidelines for non-uniformed employee dress codes. The policy, effective August 2015, establishes professional standards of dress requiring all non-uniformed employees to maintain neat, well-groomed appearances with work attire appropriate for their assigned environment. The policy explicitly prohibits employees from wearing sweatshirts, athletic clothing, mini-skirts, beach shoes, halter tops, sneakers, and spandex, with supervisors authorized to determine whether additional clothing items are inappropriate for specific work areas. Supervisors are responsible for enforcing the policy within their respective areas, though the Superintendent or designee retains final approval authority over acceptable clothing items.
The policy does not contain information regarding pricing, set-asides, incumbents, funding requirements, or contract terms, as this is an internal administrative personnel policy rather than a procurement document. The Department reserves the right to amend this policy at any time, and employees with questions regarding dress code standards applicable to their specific work areas should consult with their immediate supervisors for guidance and clarification.
