About this file
This document is a Bidder Questions and Answers file for the Gillette Small Update project (Project #666-26-121) at the Sheridan, Wyoming Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. The document addresses specific details about interior design, casework, and furnishings for three locations within the VA Clinic, including the Gillette Small Update project. Key details include the specification of Steelcase (or approved equal) freestanding furniture components, clarification on countertop materials (Corian Lava Rock and Wilsonart laminate in specific colors), and confirmation of furniture configurations for areas like the reception, nurse station, and small update spaces.
The related federal contract opportunity involves a 45-calendar day construction project to address drainage issues, replace an exterior door, and remodel casework and finishes. The project requires comprehensive submittal of safety, material selection, equipment, and finish details, with physical samples to be delivered to the VA Contracting Officer's Representative. The work will be conducted while clinic operations continue, with patients and non-construction area staff remaining on-site during the project. The contract is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 19, located in Sheridan, Wyoming.

Gillette Small Update project # 666-26-121 – Bidder Questions – 10/01/2025 Answers
1. HIPPA 103
0. We are assuming this is a p-lam countertop with at least 1 18” base cabinet. (please confirm as there are no elevations at this location)
0. Do we need to have a pony wall under this countertop, or will it be open.
0. Is this countertop 1 height, or is there a lower section for wheelchair accessibility?
The existing built-in workstation will be removed and replaced with freestanding furniture. The furniture component list was modified and expanded to include this furniture. The existing power and data should be sufficient.
1. Reception 104 Rear Casework: We are assuming this area will receive base/upper cabinets with a p-lam countertop? Are there any full height cabinets to be included at this location? Interior Design specified this as Steelcase (or approved equal) freestanding furniture components with a laminate common top. Furniture is not attached to the wall, and there are no upper cabinets. Pedestals are to have locks.
1. Nurse Station 105
2. We are assuming that the back wall casework location is a p-lam countertop with 2 each base cabinets. Are any upper cabinets required at this location? Are locks required on any of the cabinets? Interior Design specified this as a freestanding Steelcase (or approved equal) desk with two mobile locking pedestals. Furniture is not attached to the wall, and there are no upper cabinets. We need data and power in this location.
2. We are assuming the “desk area” will need a pony wall built that will have 40” high cabinets underneath it? lower section will have countertops and 2 each base cabinets. Again, Interior Design specified this as Steelcase (or approved equal) freestanding furniture components surrounded by freestanding acoustical panels or freestanding storage units with common tops. We need electrical and data in the floor in locations similar to where existing connections exist.
2. Do any of the work surfaces in this area need to be solid surface? No.
1. Blueprint and specs it says they are wanting two different colors for Formica and one for Corian on the countertops which are going to be Corian and which are Formica, therefore I am assuming that the green part in pg 9 of part 2 are all the countertops to replace and the ones marked with a highlighted numbers 1 & 2 are the ones that will have Formica? For the receptionist area, we intended for a pony wall to remain in a configuration similar to what is existing. We would keep the lower transaction surfaces for handicapped accessibility on both sides. The solid surface transaction tops will be Corian Lava Rock. The laminate under the full-height transaction tops will be the marble-look, Wilsonart Golden Lightning 4956K-22. The laminate under the accessible transaction top will be Wilsonart Fonthill Pear 10745-60. The toe kick across the base will be black.
1. What about backsplash. The current countertops do have backsplashes and I want to make sure if they would like a standard 4” backsplash all around? No backsplashes are expected since there are no sinks in the affected areas.
1. And lastly, Corian is 3/4” thick, Do they want double thickness or just the 3/4” thickness? We would like the solid surface transaction tops to appear to be 1 ½” thick. This could be done with ¾” thick material and an apron. If the labor to manufacture this exceeds the cost of double-thick material throughout, then go with the less expensive option.
