About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) for the replacement of an existing fire station located in Pauma Valley, San Diego County, California. The project involves the demolition of the existing facility and the design and construction of a new two-engine, 12-bed barracks/mess hall, single-building fire station with associated support structures and site improvements. The Prime Bidder must be a licensed B - General Building Contractor and self-perform a minimum of 30% of the work. Responses to the RFI are due by September 27, 2024.

The RFI document provides clarification on several contractor inquiries, including the state's budget for the project, responsibility for certain fees, pre-selected subcontractors, and specifications for the wash building and storm drainage. The state indicates that there are Small Business/Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (SB/DVBE) participation incentives, but a 20% self-perform requirement in lieu of 30% will not be accepted. The state has not provided the engineer's estimate or budget for the project.
