Purchase Description

Mobile Communications Vehicle (MCV)

1.0 SCOPE

This purchase description is for a Mobile Communications Vehicle (MCV) based upon a light duty pickup truck platform modified with increased gross vehicle weight ratings and with an overall appearance of a sport utility vehicle. The scope of this effort is to produce a “rack ready” vehicle platform for Government provided and installed communications equipment. The exterior of the vehicle shall include an antenna mounting platform.

The interior of the vehicle shall be configured with racks and mounting points for equipment.

Consistency in configuration across the fleet, adherence to design tolerances, and accurate and complete design documentation are extremely important to ensure the Government installed communications package can consistently be integrated into the MCV and to facilitate maintenance of the MCV. The required operational life of the MCV is a minimum of ten (10) years, so the ability to maintain the fleet by government/military personnel is important.

The MCV will be employed worldwide, transported on enclosed semi-trailers, C-5, and C-17 aircraft to its mission areas. The MCV’s mission dictates the need for high reliability. The vehicle will be on public display and requires an automotive “Class A” exterior finish. Vehicle, body, equipment, and accessories shall be provided as specified herein.
