1. What is the depth of the manholes and conduit?
· 6 to 12 feet.
2. Are there T-6200 engineering drawings available? They are mentioned in the Work Statement.
· Will provide them on Tuesday 03SEP24
3. Who is providing the materials?
· The vendor
4. What are the test requirements?
· show the new fiber is serviceable and supports the full advertised bandwidth capability of the installed line
5. What frequencies are to be tested?
· The industry standard frequencies for multi-mode fiber optic cable.
6. The work statement mentions splicing fiber but also calls for TFOCA connectors which seem to be mechanical connectors. Which method will be used?
· Both IAW with PWS
7. It looks like there are two cables to be replaced for a total of 5600’?
· The PWS stated “The two single and/or multimode fiber cables approximately 2,800 feet long”. It has been clarified to state “Provide outdoor multimode fiber cables approximately 2,800 feet long, totaling 5600 feet of fiber cable”.
8. What is the fiber count (Number of fibers) in the cables being removed/ replaced?
· Approx. 48 strands total
9. Do we have to do an OSHA approved manhole setup? Tripod, gas detectors, etc.….
· No, however, before initiation of work at the job site, an Accident Prevention Plan, written by the Contractor for the specific work and hazards of the contract and implementing in detail the pertinent requirements of EM 385-1-1.
10. What is the testing standard and equipment need? Fiber tester with Power meter or OTDR?
· show the new fiber is serviceable and supports the full advertised bandwidth capability of the installed line
11. Can the existing fiber be removed completely, and the new fiber installed?
· Yes, in accordance with PWS, 5.2(a) Contractor shall remove all failed fiber cables and dispose of them. A failed fiber cable is a fiber cable that does not support its rated bandwidth. An initial survey identified all lines have failed completely. All lines will be replaced.
12. Is there a requirement to perform a migration of traffic from the existing fiber to the newly installed fiber and can it be done during the daytime, or will it have to been done at night?
· No, coordination will be made to conduct during the daytime.
13. Please confirm we can reuse existing pathways between manholes or weather new pathways need to be provided.
· Existing pathways can be reused.
14. What type of fiber is to be used in the replacement, how many strands?
· Multimode fiber approx. 48 strands total
15. What type of connections (LC or SC) are required?
· TFOCA connectors are being used at end points
16. Our understanding of the specific task is that there are two cables (runs) to be replaced, one (1) single mode and one (1) multi-mode each consisting of approximately 2,800 feet.
· No both are multimode and PWS has been clarified to state both are multimodal.
17. Is the intent to replace the entire ~2,800 for each cable, or is the intent only for a section or sections to be replaced?
· Entire cables to be replaced IAW PWS.
18. We understand that most/all of the 7 manholes have 2-3 feet of water that it takes airfield personnel up to six hours to pump water out of manhole #1 (3 feet of water). Who will be responsible for pumping out the water from all manholes for the performance of this work, the Army or the contractor?
· The Army
19. Please provide detailed pictures of each of the manholes so we can accurately assess the weatherization requirements.
· Added pictures during solicitation
20. Please provide the weatherization spec or UL standard you require for weatherization.
· Outdoor fiber
21. Do we have to provide anything between manhole #7 to the antenna?
· No, just run from manhole to junction boxes.
22. What is the height of the antenna?
· Not applicable
23. Will permits be required and if so what authorities with jurisdiction that the contractor will need to work with?
· No permits required
