About this file

This document is an Amendment VI Questions and Answers (Q&A) for a Navy contract (N6264925RLA06 SALVOR ROH) dated November 13, 2025, addressing three specification items related to marine vessel repairs and engine maintenance. The first item concerns rudder repairs, with guidance to use a Marine Repair Machine shop to repair port and starboard rudder taper castings, estimated at 20 square feet of weld repair, with Brightsun recommended as a potential subcontractor pending ABS certification. The second and third items request photographic documentation for main propulsion and secondary diesel engines for parts list preparation, though the current ship's limited connectivity prevents immediate image sharing.

Key administrative details include a strict prohibition on performance in India, with all proposals required to be electronically submitted to Michelle.A.Kouis.Civ@us.navy.mil by November 21, 2025, at 10 AM Singapore time. The document provides contact information for Geotech Industries (http://www.geotechindustries.com/contact.html) as a reference point for previous repair work, and emphasizes that the point of contact for the work items has been performing servicing since 2009 and maintains relevant information about the engines.

N6264925RLA06 SALVOR ROH - Amendment VI Q&A November 13, 2025

1. SPECIFICATION ITEM NO.: ___________0908_______ PARA.

NO.________7.2________

TITLE: ___ RUDDER REPAIRS _______

QUESTION:

7.2 Using references in 2.0, provide the services of a Marine Repair Machine shop with qualified welders to repair the port and starboard rudder taper castings (Material ASTM A-27 Grade 60-30) as shown in reference 2.1.3, Item No 502. Estimate total of 20 square feet of weld repair and machining for both rudder bore casting.

STEML CLARIFICATION: STEML is unable to undertake this work time due to some limitations. Kindly assist with the advice of any local subcontractor we approach for this work.

ANSWER: The company that performed the repair on the rudder casting of the sister ship used a CLIMAX BW 3000 bore welding machine with ER-70S-6 filler material and the required pre-heat and line boring machine. Please coordinate with the local subcontractor and the ABS surveyor for certification of the weld repair. Brightsun appears promising, provided that their certification (welder, filler, and testing) has been approved by ABS. Direct all welding repair certification requirements to local ABS office.

Below is the point of contact for repair that was done on the sister ship.
