About this file
This is a Work Item Specification for reverse osmosis unit service and repair on the USS Miguel Keith (ESB-5), a naval auxiliary ship. The work involves maintenance of a Model MLP 25,000 Seawater Reverse Osmosis Unit manufactured by Aqua-Chem, Inc., located in the Auxiliary Machinery Room. The contractor must provide an authorized Aqua-Chem Electronics field service representative to perform specific maintenance tasks including installation of a pre-programmed PLC memory module, replacement of a PI-109 pressure transducer, programming updates to a backup PLC unit, hands-on training to crew members on programming and software updates, and operational testing. The work also requires coordination with ship's personnel for equipment lockout/tagout procedures, proper drainage and disposal of liquids in compliance with applicable regulations, preparation of condition reports documenting any deficiencies, and restoration of all disturbed surfaces including painting and lagging.
The statement of work requires submission of an "as found" condition report and an "as released" status report to the MSC Representative in PDF format, both signed and countersigned by authorized personnel. The contractor must comply with applicable General Technical Requirements (GTRs 1-7, 22-24, 28-29), adhere to manufacturer's standards and performance specifications, and observe strict safety protocols regarding the ship's high voltage electrical systems and non-standardized electrical color coding. A possible OEM source is identified as Aqua-Chem, Inc. with contact information for Carl McMillan, Service Manager. This work item was added via Amendment 0001 issued February 13, 2025, to the broader USS Miguel Keith Voyage Repair Availability solicitation that is limited to sources authorized to operate in South Korea.
