About this file
This document is a Government Response to Request for Clarification (RFC) addressing two contractor questions regarding rubber fender installation specifications for a naval vessel. In the first question, the contractor requested a missing drawing (DWG 8774034 Rev 1), which the government confirmed was added to Attachment 6. The second question sought clarification on the intended method of D-rubber fender fastener installation, comparing current installation practices with referenced drawings (600 SK10812 and Fendering Arrangement 45000).
The government's response specifies the intent to remove existing chevrons and establish fixed mounting plates for top and bottom fender brackets. The response references multiple drawings (45000 Rev 4, 8774034 Rev 1, SK10812, and SK10901) and indicates that Drawing SK10901 provides specific guidance for fender mounting plate modifications after chevron removals. The document appears to be part of a technical clarification process for a naval vessel modification or maintenance project, with precise instructions for fender attachment methods.

Government Response to RFC 005-006 N4523A26Q1002 Errata 2
005) Question:
The contractor asked the following:
Apologies, DWG 8774034 Rev 1is referenced in the SOW as well and was not in the folder.
Could you please send that as well.
Response:
The above asked drawings have been provided and added to Attachment 6
006) Question:
The contractor asked the following:
The specifications reference that the existing installation of the rubber fenders follows reference 600 SK10812. This drawing depicts D-rubber installation using through bolts penetrating drilled holes in the flat bar retainers.
Inspection of the vessel on 1/13/26 revealed that the method of D-rubber fastener installation is actually similar to that used on the YT-810 (Fendering Arrangement 45000, NAVSEA dwg 8774034). The current method of attachment utilizes 1” stainless steel round bar pins and ½” stainless steel round bar chevrons as keepers rather than through bolts.
Is it the intent of the Government to reinstall the D-rubber fenders in the same manner as they are currently installed (Fendering Arrangement 45000, NAVSEA dwg 8774034) or to reconfigure the attachment of the existing fenders in the same manner as specified for the YT-810 (Fender Fastener Mod 611 SK10901)?
Response:
The intent of the specification is to remove existing chevrons and to establish fixed mounting plates for the top and bottom fender brackets. Drawings noted are relative to specific locations on the hull, i.e. 45000 Rev 4, 8774034 Rev 1, SK10812 and SK10901.
Drawing SK10901 details “G”, “H”, “J” and “K” and “M” provides guidance for fender mounting plate modifications following chevron removals.
