Material Control Tag (MCT) to each pallet of lead waste that will be lifted by the crane team and transported to the HMCC by forklift. The MCT must list the number of bags of lead waste on each pallet and list Bldg. 300 HMCC as the destination.

3.3.10.5 The Contractor, with oversight from the SUPERVISOR, must record the amount of lead waste removed from the dry dock on a MCT and provide a copy of this MCT to the SUPERVISOR daily.

3.3.12 Maintain all surfaces in lead work areas as free as

practicable from accumulations of lead. The Contractor must ensure all lead cutting work surfaces are cleaned at least once per shift to prevent accumulation of lead dust. Use the following guidelines for clean-up:

3.3.12.1 Use vacuums designated for lead use equipped with high efficiency particulate filter (HEPA VAC) to clean work surfaces of lead dust. Empty vacuums in a manner to minimize re-entry of lead into the workplace. Blowing down of work surfaces and tools for clean-up is PROHIBITED.

3.3.12.2 Wipe visible dust from work areas, floors, equipment and tools using wetted rags.

3.3.12.3 Use of shoveling, wet sweeping, and brushing for lead flakes, chips and pieces will be permitted only when vacuuming or other equally effective methods have been tried and found not to be effective.

3.3.12.4 Use water spray where necessary to prevent the

generation and release of airborne lead dust. Runoff from water used to spray lead and lead particles must be contained and collected in accordance with 2.4 and turned over to NNSY Code 970 HAZMAT via the SUPERVISOR.

3.5.1 Contractor must install lead ballast using new bin liner material and lead shims (cut to suit by Contractor) where necessary to ensure a good fit and compaction rate within the lead ballast bin.

Lead bins, adjacent bulkheads, and hull plating which will be in contact with lead ballast, must be lined with either one layer of 1/8 inch thick rubber conforming to MIL-G-1149 or with two layers of 1/16 inch thick rubber conforming to MIL-S-2912, Type II. The rubber lining must be installed using adhesive meeting the requirements of MIL-A-24456 or be attached with adhesive tape. NNSY TAM will provide final acceptance of lead liner installation prior to lead installation. No lead pigs will be installed that are larger than 9- 3/8 inches. Contractor must cut pigs to a size of 9-3/8 inch or less prior to installation. When stacking lead pigs and shims into lead bins, make sure lead pigs and shims are stacked level, there is no space between lead pigs and shims, and the faces and tops of the bays are flat to ensure canning plates can be installed. No shims can be

Lead must kept segregated from any other lead; lead from different lead ballast bins must not be mixed. NNSY personnel must weigh and record data for liners, lead ballast, including lead shims, installed by the Contractor. If review of weight data sheet is determined to be unsatisfactory, NNSY Project Team will notify Contractor via the SUPERVISOR of required resolution (for example, remove or install lead ballast to reach initial quantity of lead ballast weight specified). NNSY will provide scales to accomplish this task. NNSY personnel will provide weight data sheets for each lead ballast bin to NNSY Design Division (Code 253) for review.

3.5.2 Contractor must furnish all lead cutting equipment.
