PPI#12

QUESTION: 26 32 15 (2.1.6 )- States corrosion resistant enclosure which technically painted steel is corrosion resistant. Is painted steel acceptable or is aluminum enclosure required? There is also an enclosure section 2.20.1 for the enclosure which states steel.

RESPONSE: Please conform to enclosure requirements as stated in section 2.20.1 in Specification 26 32 15.00.

PPI#13

QUESTION: 26 32 15 (2.19 )- Generator Control Panel is digital via LED Screen (there are no dial type gauges in production). Confirm this is acceptable.

RESPONSE: Digital is acceptable.

PPI#14

QUESTION: 26 32 15 (2.27) - References extensive factory testing including High Pot Tests, Insulation Resistance testing, Winding Resistance testing, etc. Is all of this required for this small of a machine or would a standard 0.8PF Test with Report from the factory suffice since there is also on-site testing being performed. Please advise.

RESPONSE: Please conform to requirements as stated in the specification section.

PPI#15

QUESTION: 26 32 15 Throughout the specs there are multiple requests for 6 sets of "X" in 3-ring binders, and 3 sets of "Y" in 3 ring binders etc. Is all of this required, or would electronic versions of the needs suffice?

RESPONSE: Provide as required by the specifications

PPI#16

QUESTION: 26 32 15 (3.4 )- Onsite Inspection and Tests - List items like oil and fuel piping flushes, cable insulation integrity testing, ground resistance testing, Dynamometer Testing, Regulator range Testing, tank draining testing etc etc which is the bottom of page 40 thru 61. For the 100kW generator only, is the industry standard NFPA110 Resistive Loadbank Test acceptable? Testing as it's currently listed will multiple days and cost thousands of additional dollars to perform.

RESPONSE: Please conform to requirements as stated in the specification section.

PPI#17

QUESTION: 26 32 15 (3.4.1.3) - States the Contractor shall supply all equipment needed for on-site testing. Please clarify whether the generator manufacturer shall provide the load bank equipment for testing.

RESPONSE: This is a contractor means and methods. It is the contractors discression where they procure the load bank for testing.

PPI#18

QUESTION: 26 32 15 (3.10) - Advise if more than one 2-hours onsite training session is needed (i.e. 3 sessions at site for 2-hours each).

RESPONSE: Provide the training hours as stated in Specification 26 32 15 section 3.10.

PPI#19

QUESTION: Specs have sections that define a need (Installation, site testing for two examples) in multiple areas of the specs. For example, Installation is mentioned in 3.2, 3.3 and 3.11 too, On-site testing is mentioned in 3.4 and 3.7 and then a final testing section 3.12 as well. Many of the needs in these sections are redundant. Are we to base our pricing on all sections we see in the specs?

RESPONSE: Please conform to requirements as stated in the specification section.

PPI#20

QUESTION: 26 36 23 Advise if Bypass/Isolation is required. Not mentioned on one-line E-601 however there are several areas in the specs that mention Bypass/Isolation.

RESPONSE: During the design phase, we sent an RFI asking NAVFAC if Bypass/Isolation Switch was required. NAVFAC confirmed that it was not a requirement.

PPI#21

QUESTION: 26 36 23 Advise on the required ATS size needed (not listed on one-line E-601).

RESPONSE: The ATS size is 400Amps.

PPI#22

QUESTION: 26 36 23 Confirm the required ATS enclosure type is NEMA1.

RESPONSE: A NEMA 250, Type 1 enclosure is required per section 2.2.a in Specification 26 36 23.

PPI#23

QUESTION: 07 42 29 (2.2.9.a –e) (A501 Details B3 & B4 ) The specifications call for a clip and sub-girt support system yet the details show what amounts to a thermally broken system at the horizontal member. Is there a thermal member (Knight Wall, SMART-ci, Cascadia Clip, Nvelope etc.) being used here or can we provide our standard horizontal sub-girt/adjustment angle with thermal isolator?

RESPONSE: The rain-screen assembly is to be provided as a complete system as prescribed by selected manufacturer. Completed system to achieve both manufacturer's and installer's warranty as specified in 07 42 29 1.7. Components within the rain screen assembly to meet the performance and warranty criteria established within the specification. Alternate assemblies are acceptable if all other performance criteria are met.

PPI#24

QUESTION: 7 42 29 (2.2.3.b) (A521 Detail D2) The specifications call for silicone gaskets at the vertical carriers. Would a pvc spacer be acceptable? We have found with our various external façade systems that the EPDM gasket is significantly stronger and less prone to tearing than a silicone gasket of the same shape. EPDM can be blended to have a wide range of shore hardness and with the designed shape aid deflection recovery. When inserting a terracotta tile the gaskets can roll but the EPDM designed gasket is less likely to tear from the tile retaining aluminium clips. The aluminium clip with EPDM gasket is hidden from the external elements and will have a long-term performance life similar to silicone.

The use of EPDM gasket as an alternate is acceptable if all other criteria are met.
