SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been added by full text:

AMENDMENT 0006

Incorporate drawing A-501 provided by this amendment.

Question 1. Drawing S-001 calls for the design criteria to meet DOD Minimum Antiterrorism standards for buildings. In following with minimum standards are the translucent window panels required to be blast rated? If so to what standoff distance and charge weight?

Answer 1. Charge weight 2. Minimum distance of 75'. Civil sheet CS-202 shows ATFP Standoff dist.

Question 2. Specification Section 12 24 13 requires window shades to be motorized; however, there are no electrical power circuits designated for the shades on the Electrical Drawings. Please provide this electrical information.

Answer 2. Put the roller shades on circuit A11 as shown on electrical drawings.

Question 3. Regarding CLIN 0004 (option 3) ‐ Please provide a description of the anticipated A/V package. There is nothing (A/V) on the furniture plan other that a TV, marker board and marker board indicated. Will there be any electronics (projector, sound system, etc.) that will require the services of an A/V consultant?

Answer 3. This is answered within Amendment 0005.

Question 4. Section 01 45 00.00 20 par 1.5.4 requires a separate QC Specialist for Mechanical, Soils Testing, Structural, Building Envelope, Electrical and Telecommunications. Does the government intend for the contractor to employ each of these individuals for this project? This seems to be excessive and will add significant cost to the project.

Answer 4. A dedicated QC Specialist is required, an individual specialist for Mechanical, structural, Building Envelope, Electrical and Telecommunications is not a requirement for this project.

Question 5. The wall sections on structural sheet S‐301 illustrate 3 courses of 4"x8"x16" split face CMU at the bottom of the wall sections. The wall sections on architectural sheet A‐302 only illustrate 2 courses of 4"x8"x16" split face CMU at the bottom of the wall sections. Which course is correct 2 courses or 3 courses?

Answer 5. Provide two courses as shown on architectural sections.

Question 6. Structural sheet S‐301 section details C‐1 and C‐2 state to grout top course and bottom course solid.

This is really not practical with 4"x8"x16" CMU units because the voids in the CMU are so small. We can try to fill the voids with mortar. Will it be acceptable to fill the voids with mortar or is details a true "solid" 4"x8"x16" split face CMU unit for the top and bottom course?

Answer 6. Fill with mortar is acceptable

Question 7. Architectural sheet A‐201 shows an exterior finish schedule. The finish schedule is illustrating the exterior split face CMU to be gray with gray mortar. Typically the split face CMU at Camp Lejeune is a Adams Products 9303 color that is white based. Which is the correct color product gray or white?

Answer 7. Provide the standard colors called for in the Base Exterior Architectural Plan (BEAP) for the campus MARSOC. All final selections will be reviewed by base architectural committee.

Question 8. Specification 09 90 00 1.3.1 ‐ This requires the painting/coating applicator to be SSPC Certified (aka QP‐1). We request that this requirement be waived.

Answer 8. No, the requirement will remain.

Question 9. Detail C5/A‐501 shows 3" spray foam insulation behind the masonry wall. All the wall sections on A‐ 302 show 1" rigid insulation behind the masonry. Can you please clarify.

Answer 9. Wall sections on A‐302 are correct. Detail on C5/A‐501 is there to show brick control joint.

Question 10. Is the government hiring the Commissioning Agent or will that be to responsibility of the contractor?

Answer 10. Government will hire commissioning agent.

Question 11. On page M‐601 the sleeping room air handling unit schedule lists a winter entering air temperature of 85F and a winter leaving air temperature of 53, do these values need to be swapped? Can we also verify the heating capacity on these units? For example, AHU‐1A has a heating capacity of 26,203 Btu/h, which would give you a deltaT of roughly 6.5F with 3,760 CFM. This goes for all air handlers on the sleeping room air handling unit schedule.

Answer 11. Numbers referenced in the question do not correspond to the numbers listed on M‐601. Bid per plans.

Question 12. On page M‐601 the core air handling unit schedules show a winter EAT of 85 and a winter LAT of 85.

Can these values be corrected?

Answer 12. Numbers referenced in the question do not correspond to the numbers listed on M‐601. Bid per plans.

Question 13. Drawing A‐101, B5/A‐501, & A‐201 ‐ These 3 Drawings show the 2 front structural steel columns with the bottom 3' (+‐) having masonry veneer covering, and the top part of the structural steel column being exposed.

Please provide a detail of how the masonry cap is to end in a weatherproof, low‐maintenance design at the transition with the I‐Beam column.

Answer 13. See updated drawing A‐501 provided with this amendment.

Question 14. Drawing B5/A‐101 ‐ There is a "Ladder Access" from the floor of the Training Room to the Mechanical Platform. No detail has been provided. Please provide a detail or specification for this ladder.

Answer 14. Ladder is not to be provided by the contractor.

Question 15. Can the Government please advise who the engineering firm for the Mechanical/HVAC equipment scope of this project is?

Answer 15. NAVFAC is responsible for the HVAC equipment design scope on this project.

Question 16. Plan views show 12’ security fence. Detail drawing shows 7’ high fence. Spec – Part 2.1.1 Fence Fabric shows 7’. Spec and detail vs drawings indicates we should bid 7’ material. Please clarify.

Answer 16. The fence should be 7' high fence fabric with 1' of barbed wire and outriggers at the top‐ 8' in total.

Question 17. Drawing S‐001 Pre Engineered Building Notes Note 2d states, “Building drift shall be limited to Height/600, with a mean wind recurrence interval of 10 years.” Should this be Height/60?

Answer 17. L/600 is used due to Table 2‐1 of UFC 3‐301‐01 “Lateral deflection limits for framing supporting Exterior wall finishes” (brick veneer), as well as commentary appendix C section CC.1.2 of ASCE 7‐10 refers to L/600 to minimize damage to cladding.
