Notice No. 4 28 August 2024
RFP N4008424R0058
JAPANESE TRANSLATION SERVICE IDIQ FOR NAVFAC FE
NOTE: The following schedule is provided for INFORMATION ONLY. The RFP remains unchanged unless it is amended in writing on a Standard Form 30.
Request for Information Questions and Responses
1. For Telephonic interpretation: Will you provide a platform for these events, or would we need to offer a solution?
ANSWER: NAVFAC Far East would provide the platform in the event telephonic interpretation is requested.
2. For the On-Site translation tasks: Since we wouldn’t be able to QA these documents and follow our standard processes, what’s the expectation in terms of quality around these translations?
ANSWER: See Attachment 1, Table 6 for Translation Performance Standards.
3. For the On-Site translation tasks: Would the interpreters need to translate up to 2,500 words daily? It’s mentioned that there could be a maximum of 2,500 words, which would be a full day of translation. This means no other tasks could be assigned.
ANSWER: When interpreter services are ordered, on-site interpreters may be asked to translate up to 2,500 words.
4. For the On-Site translation tasks: Will you be able to provide the interpreters with reference materials to work with, for example, glossaries?
ANSWER: Interpreters should have or bring necessary resources to aid in on-site translation.
When on-site interpreters are needed, advance information on the event will be provided when available.
5. It’s mentioned that “The Contractor shall propose a primary and an alternate linguist for each interpretation”: Does this mean we need to have a back-up interpreter for each interpretation, or do they want to get two interpreters assigned on-site for every event, regardless if it’s consecutive or simultaneous?
N40084-24-R-0058
ANSWER: When ordering interpretation services, per 2.1.1.2, the contractor is to propose a primary and an alternate linguist for each interpretor ordered. When the Task Order is issued, the number of interpreters will be specified for each event.
6. For volume: Can you provide us with any past or estimated volumes for services required under this IDIQ?
ANSWER: Historical volumes are not available. Please review the PWS for estimated volume that may be awarded as task orders. Note these are for planning purposes only and numbers may vary.
