About this file

This document contains a solicitation for repair and painting services at a U.S. Naval facility in Japan. The Navy seeks a contractor to perform roof repair by installing a new sheet waterproofing system on an existing folded metal roof. Exterior wall painting services are also required, which include removing damaged existing paint, preparing surfaces, and painting exterior walls. Material sampling for asbestos and lead, as well as asbestos and lead removal work, are included in the scope of services. Bidders must provide both a base price for general construction work and an optional price for additional asbestos abatement should sampling confirm the presence of asbestos in exterior walls. The solicitation identifies license requirements for contractors to operate in Japan and notes that official U.S. contractor status or civilian component certification under the U.S.-Japan Status of Forces Agreement will not be provided under this contract. Award is estimated between 50-100 million yen.
