About this file
This document is a collective bargaining agreement between U.S. Marine Management, Inc. (Company) and American Maritime Officers (Union) for licensed deck and engine officers employed on Military Sealift Command (MSC) vessels operating under MSC Contract N32205-23-C-4223 for the Yosemite Trader. The agreement is effective from the first day of vessel operation through the duration of the Company's MSC time charter and was executed on May 23, 2023.
The agreement establishes comprehensive employment terms for Masters, Licensed Deck Officers, Chief Engineers, and Licensed Assistant Engineers. Officers receive permanent assignments with rights to return after authorized leave periods, and the Company may promote or transfer officers with Union notification and approval. All officers must be U.S. citizens, possess current USCG merchant mariner credentials, valid passports valid for six months beyond assignment, USCG Medical Certificates, Transportation Worker Identification Credentials, security clearances, and required training certifications. The agreement prohibits strikes and lockouts with expedited arbitration procedures through the American Arbitration Association for dispute resolution. Officers are entitled to twenty-five days of paid vacation for every thirty days of shipboard employment, eleven paid holidays annually, and a 3% wage increase on each anniversary date. Monthly wages range from $13,772.28 to $23,407.08 for various officer ratings, with a Duty Engineer rate of $636.00 monthly. Officers receive transportation to and from vessels, including upgradable economy airline tickets with preference for US-owned carriers, and subsistence per Department of Defense Joint Travel Regulations. The Company contributes to AMO Medical, Pension, Defined Contribution Plan, vacation, and other benefit funds, maintains a 401(k) plan, and provides 4% of benefit base wages to the Defined Contribution Plan. Additional provisions address officer quarters standards, uniforms paid by the Company, maintenance and cure payments of $50.00 daily when entitled under maritime law, unearned wages for injured officers, physical and substance abuse testing policies, and compensation for MSC-required training at $100.00 daily stipend.
