1.0 ABSTRACT:
1.1 This item describes removal of the existing deck covering and installation of an approved cosmetic polymeric epoxy deck covering system in the various stateroom bathrooms.

3.3.1 Bill of Materials (contractor furnished):

4.0 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED EQUIPMENT/MATERIAL/SERVICES: None
5.0 NOTES
5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier, must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTRs.
5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier are advised to review the other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item.
5.3 THIS SHIP CONTAINS HIGH VOLTAGE (HV) ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. OBEY ALL POSTED AND VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING SAFETY AND EXCLUSION FROM HIGH VOLTAGE AREAS. AT NO TIME APPROACH, WORK ON, OR ENTER A HIGH VOLTAGE AREA WITHOUT PROPER AUTHORIZATION.
5.4 THE T-AKE CLASS ELECTRICAL COLOR CODING DOES NOT FOLLOW CONSISTENT COLOR SCHEME. THE SHIP IS KNOWN TO HAVE CURRENT CARRYING CONDUCTORS COLORED GREEN, BLUE, BLACK, AND WHITE. ASSUME ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE ENERGIZED UNTIL TESTED AND PROVEN OTHERWISE. TEST ALL ELECTICAL CABLES TO ENSURE THEY ARE DE-ENERGIZED PRIOR TO WORKING ON THE ITEM.
6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None additional
7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:
7.1 Tag-Out all required systems and equipment. Drain and dispose of any liquid in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
7.2 Provide and install protective coverings and curtains to prevent contamination to ship’s equipment, furniture, windows, remaining/existing deck coverings, all lighting fixtures within area of work, doors and door frames, offices and office equipment, and all other adjacent spaces and equipment affected by this work requirement. Upon completion of work, Contractor shall remove protection and curtains, remove all traces of dust, dirt, industrial debris and wipe down and clean all spaces and equipment when directed by the MSCREP.
7.3 All debris generated by the work shall be removed from the vessel and disposed of properly on a daily basis.
7.4 Provide an adequate ventilation and exhausting system to facilitate a safe working environment in work affected areas. The ventilation and exhaust systems shall be filtered to preclude contamination to ship’s structure and equipment, interior and exterior boundaries.
7.5 Prove all deck drains are free flowing, in the spaces receiving the new deck covering, to the MSCREP. Provide a condition report to the MSCREP documenting all drains checked and any clogged drains found.
7.6 Plug drains to preclude introduction of industrial debris. Upon completion of the deck renewal, remove plugs and demonstrate subject drains remain in the condition originally documented.
7.7 Maintain optimum environmental conditions for deck covering installations in the work area during all product applications and shall meet Polyspec requirements concerning ambient temperature, dew point, substrate temperature, and relative humidity requirements, including Polyspec’s considerations and limitations requirements.
7.8 Removals:
7.8.1 Completely remove and dispose of the existing deck covering system, including all underlayment, paint and bulkhead coving to expose the metal deck in areas identified in paragraph 3.1.
7.9 Surface Preparation:
7.9.1 Prepare surfaces to a SSPC-SP 11 to produce a minimum 2.0 mil anchor profile to achieve a proper adhesion bonding to the steel substrate. Take precautions as not to polish the surfaces. Possible exception to SSPC-SP 11; Contractor shall remove all existing paint, down to bare metal. No existing paint shall remain.
7.9.2 Upon completion of surface preparation, remove dust, dirt, debris and all other surface contaminants, in accordance with Polyspec manufacturer’s recommendations, prior to the surface preparation inspection and sealer application.
7.9.3 Notify the MSCREP for inspection of surface preparation. Gauge the substrate profile at intervals of 5 locations for every 100 square feet. Record profiles and submit report to the MSCREP. Report shall include location and frame at which the profiles where taken.
a. Provide protective shoe coverings to personnel performing inspections. Protective shoe coverings shall be provided during all inspections to preclude contamination.
7.10 Application of Amerocoat Primer Coat and PolySpec Sealer, CLAD Underlayment, and Polymeric Epoxy deck covering:
7.10.1 Upon the acceptance of surface preparation, apply one (1) coat of Amercoat 240 primer red oxide to a DFT of 5-6 MILS in accordance with paint manufactures recommendations.
7.10.2 Upon acceptance of surface preparation by the MSCREP, provide and apply Polyspec Sealer coat in accordance with manufactures recommendations.
7.10.3 Provide, mix and apply Polyspec CLAD underlayment in accordance with the Polyspec manufacturer’s recommendations.
a. Fill in all depressions in the deck, level fair welded seams and deck irregularities, and level off underlay to a minimum thickness of 1/8-inch on the deck. Where necessary, slope the underlay material within an 18-inch radius of deck drains toward the drains. Cover the underlay material up to a maximum height of four inches, to form a coved base over all vertical structures,
7.10.4 Notify the MSCREP for inspection of underlayment installation. Surfaces shall be non-porous, free of pits, spalls and crevices. Defects, if found, shall be cropped out to the steel substrate and reinstalled at contractor’s expense.
7.10.5 Upon acceptance of underlayment installation, provide and install Polyspec FLEX base coat, color coat, Receiving Coat, vinyl chips, sealer coat in accordance with the Polyspec manufacturer’s installation recommendations.
7.10.6 Deck covering color shall be POLYSPEC 611 Tan with white vinyl color chips distributed evenly. Deck covering shall be seamless, contain a continuous seal to bulkheads, thresholds, all abutting surfaces, and provide a smooth transition into stairways, thresholds and entry ways to eliminate tripping hazards.
7.10.7 Provide and install moldings or wall base covering, equal in color, composition and dimensions as removed.
7.10.8 Seal deck covering at bottom of moldings or wall base covering, door entrance thresholds, stairs and elevator entrances with a PolySpec approved sealant.
7.10.9 Notify the MSCREP, Chief Engineer, and Chief Mate for final inspection of deck covering installation.
7.11 Preparation of Drawings: None
7.12 Painting:
7.12.1 Paint all new and disturbed steel surfaces to match surrounding areas.
7.13 Manufacturer's Representative: None
8.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: None additional.
