6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None additional.
7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED
7.1 Tag-Out all required systems and equipment.
7.2 Open and clean expansion tanks in accordance with Work Item 021.
7.3 Remove all residual coolant from the system and dispose of in accordance with Work Item 023 “Hazardous Waste Management and Disposal” and all Federal, State, and Local regulations.
7.4 Completely drain down systems of MAXIGARD residual and pump off prior to start of flushing activities.
7.5 Use References 2.0 as guidance.
7.6 To clean and treat system will require a minimum of two complete flushes and one freshwater cooling water changeout.
7.7 Connect hoses to high and low point drains. Flush all HTFW, LTFW systems using a 2"-3" (150-200 gpm) Wilden pumps (or equivalent), Heater (used to heat the system water).
7.8 Filter all deposits from entering return line back into each system.
7.9 Connect circulating unit tank and circulation pump equipment.
7.10 The path of the flushing water should be from the tank and circulation pump to the lowest point of the cooling system, through engine and returning to the tank.
7.11 Fill cooling system with deionized water. Start the recirculation pump and commence heating and maintain flushing water temperature of 140-180ºF.
7.12 Continue circulation and maintain the flushing water temperature for a minimum of 8 hours.
7.13 Drain the equipment. As soon as the flushing water level has dropped below the top access ports, open them and thoroughly flush with deionized water. Continue flushing while draining. Remove all loose deposits by flushing or manual cleaning.
7.14 Repeat flushing process until flush water is clear and not cloudy with no visible suspended solids.
7.15 Fill the systems with deionized water.
7.16 Add LIQUIDEWT at 13.0 liters/ton of system capacity. OEM representative shall monitor solution to ensure proper ratio is achieved.
7.17 Inspection/Test
7.17.1 Verify and inspect no leaks and system is complete and ready for service.
7.18 Manufacturer Representative:
Representative to oversee flushing of system and take all test samples.
