About this file

This is a First Article Test Procedure document for the IM-272A/WDQ structureborne noise testing under Contract No. N00167-19-C-0005. The contractor is Spectral Labs Incorporated (SLI), located in San Diego, California. The test procedure, revision X3 dated 28 May 2020, is classified as Unclassified and is governed by CDRL A001 with DID DI-NDTI-80603A. Distribution is authorized to US Government Agencies and their contractors for administrative and operational use, with other requests referred to Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA 04ND).

The test objective is to characterize the structureborne noise signature of the IM-272A/WDQ unit in both First Article and Production Inspection configurations. Testing must be conducted per MIL-STD-740-2 paragraph 5 in a low noise background room with the test article configured with front cover and access door installed, secured, and powered on. The test procedure requires setup using an SLI-provided custom sub-base and mounts, performance of a functional test (SLI 001551) before and after measurements, collection of unweighted (Z-scale) 1/3-octave and narrowband accelerometer data from two positions, and detailed documentation on the provided data sheet. Acceptance criteria and specific noise limits are determined by the contracting activity and documented in a separate classified Air Particle Detector (APD) Noise Limit Specification. Test personnel must possess detailed knowledge of IM-272A/WDQ operation and maintenance procedures. The diagram of test setup shows the IM-272A/WDQ mounted on a LEIDOS base (#702804) with accelerometer mounting studs at two positions (POS 1 and POS 2) for X, Y, and Z axis measurements.
