About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document related to an industry day event at a federal military installation.

The document addresses base access procedures for event attendees. Participants without existing base access must complete a SECNAV 5512/1 form and pick up a visitor pass at the Visitor Center, which opens at 0600 on the day of the event. While same-day processing is possible, processing time is not guaranteed and depends on when forms are submitted. Attendees are advised to bring correct forms of identification and may consider arriving the evening before the event to allow time for the access process, particularly if their form has not been processed in advance. The organizing entity will communicate the processing status to allow attendees to plan accordingly. For participants who already possess valid base access, completion of the 5512/1 form is not required; however, they must still register for the industry day and arrive for the initial briefing session.

Question: Could you please advise how I should pick up base access pass for the visit?

Also, would it be necessary to arrive one day in advance to complete this process?

Answer: Base access can be granted early morning day-of (Visitor Center opens at 0600). If the 5512/1 form is processed ahead of time, this process should not take very long. Please follow the instructions to have correct forms of ID with you at pick-up. If the 5512/1 form has not made it through processing, then this will take some time, but should not take long enough that it would make you tardy for the start of the day. Note that we are submitting the 5512/1 forms for processing as they come in, but it is not guaranteed that they will be fully processed by your arrival. The earlier we can start the process for your form, the better the chance you will not have to spend as long at the Visitor Center getting access. Recommend arriving evening before to get settled and ready for following day, especially if your form is not processed in time and you need to get to the Visitor Center when it opens. We will be communicative about whether or not your form has cleared processing so you can plan accordingly.

Question: If I already have base access, do I need to fill out the SECNAV 5512/1 form, or can I just register to meet you all at the briefing room?

Answer: You do not need to go through base access process if you already have base access. Please still register for the industry day and arrive for the briefing as the first event.
