About this file
This document outlines three sample tasks for an industry studies contract supporting the Auxiliary General Ocean Surveillance Ship (T-AGOS (X)) program. The Naval Sea Systems Command seeks studies on ABS notation development for a distributed navigation and control system, mooring and anchoring arrangements considering anchor handling and environmental loads, and features to limit icing impacts in high latitudes such as ice accumulation and intake icing. Interested parties must submit a request to the specified points of contact and sign a non-disclosure agreement to receive the full solicitation attachments. Only U.S. companies may propose as prime contractors.

DISTRIBUTION Statement A: Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited. Other requests shall be referred to PEO Ships PMS325, Washington Navy Yard, 1333 Isaac Hull Ave. SE, Washington, DC 20376-2101
CONTRACT/PR NO.: TBD
SAMPLE TASK 1
ABS Notation Development The Contractor/Propulsion SSV shall prepare an ABS Notation Report. The report shall document an approach for distributed navigation and machinery control to allow for reduced manning and remote operating stations and monitoring. This shall include access control, proposed locations for access, and interface design approach to prevent user error. The report shall evaluate ABS notations for applicability to the control system described in the Ship Control Report and recommend the ABS notations required to define/support the system.
SAMPLE TASK 2
Mooring and Anchoring Arrangement Development The Contractor shall prepare a Mooring and Anchoring Arrangement Report which considers anchor handling arrangement capable of clearing the hull structure, protection of appendages and the propeller, fendering or camel size, wind/ice loads, other environmental and fendering loads, astern refueling line handling, and mooring line arrangement, in accordance with ABS notations described in Attachment J-1. In particular, the Contractor shall propose design features to move the anchors further away from the canards than the arrangement depicted in associated Technical Instruction.
SAMPLE TASK 3
High Latitudes Features Development The Contractor shall prepare a High Latitudes Features Report that details features to limit topside icing impacts including ice accumulation, intake icing, and other Anti-Icing or De-Icing features. The Contractor shall also provide recommendations for machinery and auxiliary design considerations of severe cold weather operations.
