About this file
The document contains a Data Item Description for a Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages Management Plan. The plan is to be provided by a contractor to document processes for proactively managing part obsolescence impacts and mitigations. It must include approaches for risk assessment and prioritization, sustainment strategies when included in the contract, software supportability, DMSMS team structure and roles, operations, flow down of requirements to subcontractors, monitoring tools and processes, case management, design techniques for mitigating risks, and metrics for cost avoidance and program performance. The contractor must also document processes for developing and providing DMSMS health assessment reports for systems, sub-systems, and parts.
