SCOPE OF WORK:
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENT
PURPOSE
The purpose of this procurement is to acquire one
(1) Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and associated components. The ROV must be configured with a Global Positioning System (GPS) or appropriate relative position common in marine geology, e.g., dead reckoning, to enable accurate geospatial data collection of photography, videography, bottom sediment samples, and water sensors. We often use RTK, thus location accuracy is important for our work.
PROJECT GOAL
The goal of acquisition of an ROV by the Maryland Geological Survey (MGS) is to increase our capacity to complete photography and videography related to Chesapeake Bay Bottom Mapping and projects associated with the Maryland Port Administration (MPA). Addition of water sensors could benefit other areas of our Department of Natural Resources unit, Resource Assessment Service. Additionally, the technological capacity for ROVs to collect bottom sediment samples is improving, thus another goal is to have the ROV capable of collecting samples via a grabber or manipulation tool, e.g., oyster shell for potential habitat ground-truthing and 500cc sediment grab samples. The ROV technology could also be employed in the Atlantic Coastal Bays and reservoirs in Maryland.
CONTRACTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The Contractor must be able to provide a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) with the following specifications:
To include the base ROV, with a minimum depth rating of 300m and minimum four (4) thrusters for operational control, vertically, horizontally, and turning, plus integrated or swappable components:
