About this file
This Addendum 6 document addresses Requests for Information (RFIs) submitted by bidders for IFB 27011, the Godwin-Virginian Pilot Building Renovation project administered by the City of Suffolk, Virginia. The project encompasses a comprehensive renovation of the Godwin Building, a two-story structure, including interior finishes, mechanical and electrical systems upgrades, security improvements, parking lot modifications on Saratoga Street, exterior brick preparation and repainting, and associated site work. The bid submission deadline and award date are not specified in this addendum. Key project requirements include 304 calendar days for completion, with the city permitting a Limited NTP for permits and submittals prior to full mobilization. Bidders must submit the entire Section A of the IFB (pages 5-29) and may submit bids either as hard copies or electronically through eVA, with no city preference stated. A revised bid form will be provided to include a separate line item for Alternate No. 1, which involves stripping existing paint before repainting the north, south, and west exterior brick walls.
The project includes specific technical clarifications regarding fire alarm systems (Johnson Controls/Simplex), building automation systems (Trane Controls only), electrical specifications, ceiling tile replacements, window film applications, and shade systems. The City of Suffolk will assume costs for commissioning, provide the attorney's and police department logos for installation, and pay only the building permit fee, with all other trade permits and utility tap fees remaining the contractor's responsibility. The contractor is responsible for builders' risk insurance and parking arrangements, which may include off-site public parking or phased on-site improvements. Significant scope clarifications confirm that the Saratoga Street Parking Lot is included in the project, no Davis-Bacon wages apply, no project trailer is required, and a Clerk of the Works is not required. Revised demolition, new work, and detail drawings for all disciplines are under revision and will be issued upon completion, which will impact final pricing and scheduling.

2 7/21/2026 Ceiling Tiles - Second Floor Architect Nick Dunlevy
For 2nd floor ceiling tile replacement, we will need to know the tile type and a quantity/percentage of the tiles needing replaced?

AD112 shows every anticipated area where ceiling tile will need to be removed. The only room that will need new ceiling tile is where the lightwell and chimney flue were demolished. Product can be the same as ACT1 in finish schedule but 2x4 instead of 2x2.
