Courseware Improvement SOP

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

Training and Education Directorate Courseware Improvement

I. Purpose

This procedure addresses the necessity to make improvements to courseware in the interim of the systematic course revision process.

II. Authority A. CDP 540-1-00 Quality Directive

B. CDP 540-2-00 Quality Management System

C. CDP 540-3-00 Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program

D. CDP 542-1-00 Internal Control Program

III. Responsible Office Curriculum Development and Evaluation Branch

IV. Standard Operating Procedures A. Identify an item for change in course material or course delivery. This item could be due to a change in policy, process, or procedure; modification to, or implementation of new equipment; clarification or improvement to safety considerations;

recommendation for the improvement of content or methodology; or to rectify an error or inaccuracy.

B. Training delivery staff, curriculum staff, instructional staff, instructional support staff, course manager, facility manager, logistics, other contractors who interact with training delivery or students may identify the item for action.

C. The submitter completes a CDP-TE-0062 Courseware Improvement Submission Form being sure to clearly explain the change and identify module and page numbers from both the Instructor and Student Guides. Provide the justification and/or rational for the change. Attach any documentation to support and/or validate recommended changes to curriculum.

D. Submitter routes completed form electronically through their designated chain of command to the Administrative Assistant for T&E who:

1. Logs the Submission Form on CDP-TE-0063 Courseware Improvement/Variance Submission Log

2. Assigns a tracking number in the following format: course title and date (e.g., HERT_05122013)

3. Reviews the form for completeness, accuracy, relevance, and appropriateness

4. Provides form electronically to the designees for review and consideration

E. The Chief, Training Management Section and/or the Supervisor, Instructional Systems Specialist:

1. Approves CDP-TE-0062 Courseware Improvement Submission Form, confirms the means and timeframe for resolution or

2. Disapproves CDP-TE-0062 Courseware Improvement Submission Form

3. Notifies the submitter of the decision, means, and timeframe for resolution, as appropriate

F. If submission is Courseware Improvement and approved, the Instructional Systems Specialist Supervisor

1. Maintains a copy of CDP-TE-0062 Courseware Improvement Submission Form in the course development record

2. Revises the course and submits for implementation consistent with the approved CDP-TE-0062 Courseware Improvement Submission Form

G. The Chief, Training Management Section ensures implementation of the revised courseware in accordance with the CDP-T&E-04-008 Courseware Implementation Procedure.
