Clarification – IAE Performance Specification 8 Sep 2008

Please note that all responses that effect a pen & ink change to the Performance

Specification is so authorized by the Contracting Officer as noted herein.

Performance Specification

1. Sections 3.4.1.4, 3.4.1.5, and 3.4.1.6 (pages 6 and 7) are not listed in Appendix D to state whether they are KPP, KSA or OSA. Please advise.

All three are OSAs, just as the rest of the physical characteristics are.

2. Sections 3.5.3.1, 3.5.3.2 and 3.8.3 – please confirm that the "TABLE" at the end of each section is TABLE III.

Yes, each of these should read TABLE III. (Pen & Ink change authorized)

3. Section 3.5.6.2.8 – please confirm that the "field cleaning/laundry procedures and practices" are intended to be inclusive only of routine hygienic maintenance and not that of CB decontamination procedures or re‐service after suspected exposure.

Yes, this reflects routine hygienic cleaning and not CB decontamination.

4. Sections 3.6.1.1, 3.6.1.2 and 3.6.2.3 (page 14) have changed from KSAs (in previous drafts) to KPPs. Please confirm the change.

This is correct; the user has requested that this requirement be changed to a KPP.

5. Section 3.7.3.4.2 – this requirement refers to Gloves providing "protection for immersion as well as dry environments". Please clarify that "protection" is intended to read as "thermal protection and exposure to environment", and not to other SERE threats (e.g. ballistic, flame, wildlife, etc. ...).

Add “thermal” before the word “protection”. (Pen & Ink change authorized)

6. Sections 3.9.15, 3.9.16, 3.9.17, 3.9.17.1, 3.9.17.2, 3.9.18 and 3.9.19 (pages 19 ‐ 21) have changed from OSAs (in previous drafts) to KSAs. Please confirm the change.

Para 3.9.15 and 3.9.18 should be OSAs, the others should remain KSAs.

(Pen & Ink change authorized)

7. Section 3.9.20 – please confirm that Section 3.9.21 referenced in this section was intended to reference Section 3.9.2.

Correct reference is 3.9.1. (Pen & Ink change authorized)

8. Appendix D ‐‐ A change from previous draft RFPs is that CBR protection has been elevated from an OSA to a KSA. This change will have a significant impact on the IAE design. Please confirm that CBR is a KSA for ejection seat aircraft. Also we note that in textual specification description, CBR is referred to whereas in Appendix D, 3.5.6 and Appendix E, Column 5 this protection is referred to as CBRN.

Please confirm CBR only is required.

Yes to all.
