Q&A Set 6 (1 May 2020) Solitication #: FA8604-20-R-8104
Question Specifically for Wright-Patterson AFB:
(General question concerning the exterior layout of the buildings)
a. Can you tell me if the buildings are close enough to each other to drive a forklift from one building to another?
Answer: No, forklifts should not be driven between buildings.
(3.1.4 Work Stations Bldg. 64)
a. Are the units as specified to be on wheels/casters. User was under the impression they would be mobile.
Answer: Work stations should have casters for mobility. The Cover PD has been revised to include this.
(Building 252)
a. There is an electrical line with lights that hangs from the ceiling that conflicts with the Pallet Rack and will need to be relocated. User is under the impression that this removal/relocation would be handled by the user organization prior to commencing Work under the contract. Please confirm.
Answer: Correct – the movement of lights will be handled by the Government (or using organization).
b. There is an overhead crane that runs in front of the pallet rack. Clearance is very tight in front of the pallet rack as the pallet rack is 48”D. Please review clearances and confirm this location is correct. (See attached pictures.)
Answer: User does not plan to use this crane – the tight clearance is okay.
c. Please confirm that the only pallet rack being installed in this space is per the drawing. User was under the impression there would be additional Pallet Rack going into the main floor area.
Answer: Along the wall as shown on the drawing is the only location it is being installed.
d. Please confirm that existing free standing items currently against the wall will be removed by Base personnel prior to installation.
Answer: Assets located along the wall will be moved by base personnel prior to installation.
(Building 18E)
a. There are pipes against the wall and a drain that are in conflict with positioning of the Pallet Rack as shown on the drawing. Will these be removed prior to installation?
Answer: These will be removed prior to installation – if not, the bay of rack that this interferes with will be provided but not installed.
Question Specifically for Columbus:
( 3.1.10 Removal of existing equipment)
a. Upon inspection, the existing lighting is in poor condition, is missing several bulbs. Rather than rehang the existing lighting would there be consideration to replace the lighting fixtures with LED type fixtures that could attach to the hard wall surface?
Answer: Please propose as if the existing lighting fixtures are being reused.
b. In figures 2 and 3 there is an existing phone board shown but does not appear on either drawing. Is the phone board alive or dead?
1. If dead, does it need to be removed and if so how far back do the cables and wires need to be terminated.
2. If alive, it is conflict with the Bin Shelving shown on Attachment 18. Please advise.
Answer: The phone board is dead. It does not need to be removed.
c. Columbus - In the lower left hand corner of the drawings in both Attachment 18 and 19 there is a hot water heater. The disconnect for the hot water heater appears to be in conflict with the end point for the fence. Please advise.
Answer: The last small section of fence can be angled to keep the disconnect outside of the fence line.
