About this file
This document is a recreation area map for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) in Alaska, specifically designated for recreational use only and not for training or navigation purposes. The map depicts various recreation areas color-coded by access restrictions: areas open to all registered users (shown in yellow-green), areas open to DoD card holders (shown in tan), and off-limits areas (shown in red diagonal hatching). The installation boundary encompasses approximately 337,000 acres across the Anchorage area, including multiple Training Areas (TA 401-431) and various geographic features such as Ship Creek, Eagle River, Knik Arm, and numerous lakes and trails.
The map identifies recreation activities available at JBER, including boating, camping, fishing, hiking, and ORV use (both winter and summer seasons). Key facilities and points of interest are marked, including the Anchorage Landfill, Arctic Valley Ski Area, Moose Run Golf Course, and Eagleglen Golf Course. The document includes information about the iSportsman Access System, an interactive recreational access management system that allows members of the public to obtain recreational access permits online through www.jber.isportsman.net or at kiosks located in JBER Visitor's Centers. A warning notifies recreational users to be aware of large vehicles conducting training on JBER Richardson Roads. Alaska Railroad lands on JBER are explicitly marked as off-limits to recreational use.

DATUM: WGS84 UTM Zone 6N iSportsman Access System iSportsman is our interactive recreational access management system designed to facilitate the relationship between
Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) and those members of the public who wish to recreate on JBER training lands.
The iSportsman website serves as a way to distribute information about our program while providing members of the public with the opportunity to sign up for a recreational access permit online.
Those wishing to recreate can also sign up for a recreational access permit by using one of the kiosks located inside the JBER Visitor's Centers.
Once a recreational user has obtained a permit, the iSportsman system provides an easy and efficient way for the user to check into and out of authorized areas either by phone or via the internet.
For complete information and to register for an iSportsman recreational access permit go to:
www.jber.isportsman.net
