DESIGN/BUILD SERVICES FOR INSTALL FIRE SUPPRESSION & HVAC, B2110

PROJECT NUMBER: CZQZ 98-0130

STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES

For

DESIGN / BUILD SERVICES

Install Fire Suppression & HVAC, B2110

CZQZ 98-0130

20 May 2016

BACKGROUND

Building 2110 was constructed in 1956 and is located inside of the Munitions Storage Area (MSA) at the eastern region of Cannon Air Force Base (CAFB) in New Mexico. The MSA compound is a secure area and will require a MSA personnel escort at all times during construction. Building 2110 is a one story building comprised of 4,200 square feet (SF) in area. The existing Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) system does not currently work properly to keep the building occupants at a reasonable temperature and will need to be repaired by replacement with an entire new system. Also, humidity is causing major defects to the munitions during inspections, which reduces the lifespan of the munitions and is resulting in increased failure during use. Environmental controls for humidity and temperature are required to assure proper protection for weapon systems and test equipment. The building is currently occupied by the Government and will be during construction of the new HVAC and fire suppression/detection system. The fire suppression, fire detection and HVAC system needs to be installed and/or replaced to meet the new user requirements in the facility. Building 2110 is currently used for: administration in the office space and in Bay 1, which has been converted to an office; Bay 2 is used to store paint chemicals inside of a hazardous locker; and Bay 3 and 4 is used to conduct incoming and routinely inspect stored ordnance (Please reference attached building layout for bay locations).
