About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation FA460025Q0057 concerning a water pump and motor replacement and refurbishment project at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. The Q&A addresses key technical details about the project, including confirmation that both a new pump and motor are needed for replacement, and only the existing pump requires refurbishment. The pump being replaced is currently offline, and the replacement needs to occur as soon as possible, with minimal disruption to the existing operational pump. Critical considerations include maintaining cooling system functionality, minimizing operational downtime, and ensuring compatibility with existing tower sump and mounting configurations. The government indicates flexibility in pump specifications (single or 2-stage) as long as form, fit, and function requirements are met. Additional details such as equipment identification photos have been referenced as available in Attachment 07.

FA460025Q0057 – Water Pump and Motor Replace and Refurbish

Offutt AFB, Nebraska

Questions and Answers

Q1: To clarify – you are requesting a new replacement for both the pump AND the motor?

A: Yes, as stated in the PWS, we need a replacement pump & motor installed.

Q2: Can you share a photo of the equipment tag (nameplate) for the condenser pump and motor to be replaced? This will help confirm the mfg and model number to ensure compatibility and availability.

A: Yes, four photos have been uploaded on Attachment 07 – Photos – 6.26.25 for reference.

Q3: Do you need the pump and the motor refurbished?

A: Only the pump needs to be refurbished on the old unit.

Q4: Can the other operational pump be shut down for a few days during the replacement?

A: Only if absolutely necessary. If the pump lead time allows for installation before cooling season is over the strong preference is for the currently operational pump to continue to run during the replacement process. If it needs to be shut down, it will need to be coordinated with 55 CES in advance to allow for notification to building occupants. Any outage would have to be kept as absolutely minimal as possible, and weekend work would be an option.

Q5: Is the pump that is being replaced still running?

A: No, the pump in question is not currently operational and is already offline.

Q6: What is the anticipated need by date?

A: There is no definitized performance period, but the replacement needs to take place as soon as possible. The refurbishment of the other pump does not need to be done as quickly.
